Well folks, after all of the questions, answers, wondering, nervousness, and all the while excitement, I am staring at my new RTB, "Ike" (I named him after my favorite historical figure, Dwight D. Eisenhower, AKA: "Ike" . He is beautiful, his colors are vibrant, he is inquisitive, active, and soooooooooooooo docile. The breeder said he eats like crazy and loves to bathe. I want to thank you all for the help, I will take pictures of my set up and my new buddy and post them soon. OOOOOOOOOOHHHH, I love him!!
OK..........here are the questions...........
My temps are maintaining at 83 F (cool side), and 93 F (warm side). I have a heat lamp and a small heat pad on the warm side of a 30 gallon viv. Is this still too low? He isn't picky on the side he sleeps at, so far he's been coiled on both sides.
This is probably TOTALLY DUMB, but what kind of water are you putting in your water bowls? Will bottled water hurt him? No, its not carbonated, lol. But I want him to live "the good life"
OMG I'm so stoked on my new buddy, I may even be "rescuing" another boa (rosy) and vivarium from a friend.
What an awesome world it is to keep herps!
Thanks again, you are all my new friends!!

Sweeeet You WILL post pics soon right?
Also cool it down a touch on the hot side 93 is too hot 88 is tops for hot sides. maybe go to a smaller wattage bulb or a thermostat for the undertank heater.
Bottled water is fine. I use tap actually myself, unless you have bad water. as long as not carbonated your all good.
Congrats, I see you are going to be an addict soon.lol

Welcome to RTB MajorLunitik. At first I thought you were an older man, until you said stoked...using words like inquisitive got me thinking older gent. By any chance are you in the military using Major or is that just a name thing? I try to get to know everybody a lil bit. I agree with Ed on the temps and water. You could cool the hot side down a bit to 88-90. How's the humidity? Need to know that too if you don't already. Cool side I like at 82 so your in there with 83. Bottled water you already know as long as it's not carbonated, no problem with spoiling the snakes . That's all cool too. Hope it helps, what are you using for substrate or bedding? Got hides? need some if you don't. anywho, welcome to rtb and look around.

I do hope that's a typo...
Your warm side is way too hot for any boa.......
Just look in the caresheets section over there...

Tap water actually has chlorine in it, bottled water is an excellent choice, as long as it's NOT distilled water..that lacks essential minerals, spring water is better.
Chlorine can be removed from tap water by just letting it set for 24 hours, like in a large bowl (a wider, shallow bowl is preferred over a deep narrow one, more surface area)
I buy Deer Park water by the 5 gallon jugs for my guys.

Thanks for the great replies!!
To answer some of the above questions,
My RTB is 4 months old, and beautiful!!
My humidity is in between 40 and 60 throughout the day.
I have lots of hides, a great water dish and a nice vine for her to climb.
Oh, and a little about myself:
**27 years old, Male
**Married to a beautiful lady----------> Molly, and she is a snake lover!!
**Firefighter/Paramedic in Newport Beach, Ca.
**"Major Lunitik" : Because I'm a WWII collector/historian and a bit LOONIE!! Yes, I realize "lunitik" is spelled wrong, but that was the only spelling available for my license plates
**I will be getting my newest addition this evening, a rosy boa named "Winston" from my brother-in-law. He's going through a divorce and his son won't be able to care for the snake anymore, so he's coming to live with me, the snake that is

Congrats on the new snake. I also would say that your temps are a bit on the extreme side too. I keep my boas at 78-82L and 85-88H basically. Your humidity sounds great btw. Soooo.. Where are the pics ?? hehe
