Rock 'n Roll Role Call!!
Well I've been real bummed about the closing of CBGB this month, so I figured I'll start a thread about the glory of Rock 'n Roll and all it's forms. Share your experiences! First rock concert, favorite bands, interesting tour/show stories (from you musicians), etc etc...Anything relating to rock music!
I'm mostly into the older style punk rock and hardcore (the real stuff, not the "fake-core" garbage that's popular these days ), like The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, Ignite, Pennywise, Sick of it All, etc, but I'm also into the classics, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Sabbath, the Who and so on....and BOY do I got some tour stories Lets hear it!! Show your Rock 'n Roll colors!

ooh! I wanna play! My fav of all time is Nine Inch Nails, and they were AMAZING in concert! I also went to Family Values Tour with Korn, Def Tones, Stone Sour, and many others! It was awesome, but the beer line was SOOO long (I budged, I admit it). I also like A Perfect Circle, among many others. Haven't been to one of their concerts yet, though.

I've gotten to be in bands that opened up for
Born Against
Kerosene 454
Hoover
This bike is a pipe bomb
Brutal truth
Solient Green
Damad
His Hero is Gone
Bloodlet
Frodus
Disembodied
Hatebreed (I wish we hadnt, talk about jerks)
and about a dozen others i've since forgotten (yes the shows were that fun)
Music....

Man, I've been to alot of shows...I don't know how to summarize all of them! Some of my favorites were The Rollings Stones (wish I could have seen them before their 80th birthdays, but still an amazing show), Eric Clapton, Roger Waters (wish I could have seen Pink Floyd in all their glory), NIN was a great show (both times), and I've seen Tool six times (APC three times). I got to hang out with Cannible Corpse after their show here in memphis ( really nice guys, believe it or not). And my most memorable experience was getting puked on at an AC/DC concert (after I was nice enough to let him partake in party favors). Hmmmmm....those were the days.

I am a music snob
I hate almost anything mainstream besides a few bands like Radiohead, Sparklehorse and Modest Mouse.
I mostly listen to odd stuff like Nurse With a Womb, Legendary Pink Dots, The Tear Garden, Skinny Puppy etc. And of course I love classic rock like Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash etc.
I hate with a capital H Korn, and Godsmack, and current NIN (Trent Reznor needs to start doing drugs again because his music is lacking). I was a huge fan of NIN back in highschool (around 1994) and they produced some good albums then. I will say that NIN live is some of the most horrible live music you will ever hear...Trent has some talent when in the studio and putting the songs together but he cannot sing live if it meant his life...and I have seen NIN live 6 times.
Oh and my first concert was with my parents, they made me go with them to see Three Dog Night (I acutally enjoyed it). First concert with me and some friends was Stone Temple Pilots way back when they released there first album.
Best concert of all time would be a tie.
Any Legendary Pink Dots concert and the Prick, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and Lords of Acid concert I went to sophmore year in Highschool

I can't say that i disagree...Pretty hate machine and Broken were the two best albums, by far. After that, things just seemed to go downhill. Some argue that The Downward Spiral was the beginning of the end, but I was never really a huge fan of that one either. It was their first album where I skipped through songs that I didn't like...before that, I loved every song as much as the one before.

I call it Teenage Angst music I swear I am only 27 years old and I already don't get the music that kids listen to.
When Korn hit the scene I thought I would check it out because it was suppose to be the new "NIN". I bought the album and tried my best to like it, but I could not stand it. If there is one band in the world I hate more then any other band out there it would be Korn.
And you know what, I almost forgot to mention The Cure, another great band!

Hey, don't get me wrong...I love angry rock....just not the neo-cookie cutter...hip-hop rock/metal kinda top 40 rock. If you want angry, pick up some old Ministry (The Land of R@pe and Honey).

Oh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, not Staind.
Louise, you need to go out and buy some Skinny Puppy or Legendary Pink Dots. Man thats some bad music you are listening to.
Atleast redeem yourself and mention Radiohead's OK Computer or some classic rock. Seriously, Staind and GodSmack.
If you like angry music go buy some Sepultura, Soulfly, Slayer, or Skinny Puppy. Atleast these guys have some talent
