pretty upset..
I woke up thismorning and first thing that came to my head... crap did I close the cover to my snake tank? Nope.. he was gone alright.. now im on the search for my 3 foot red rat snake I have about 1/2 to a 3/4 crack under my door from touching the floor.. my snake is about an inch and a half wide at its largest girth.. Think it could squeeze under my door?

its possible, but seal off the room anyways. Check the entire room thoroughly and carefully. check all your shoes, electrical wires, warm spots, small/dark spots, etc.
Best of luck. I lost a 14" BP once, it was in my snowboard boot in my closet, across the room.

when was the last time you fed the little bugger...if hes hungry you can offer a rat in the middle of the floor on a heat pad and that might attract him.
or you could put flour all over the floor and in the morning follow his tracks.
good luck

you can cut the neck off a coke bottle and put it back in the bottle backwards. puta rat/mouse in the bittle and set the bottle on a heat pad. the snake goes in and after eating is to fat to get back out. good luck. also remember to look up, snakes like to climb.

if you dont use a lot of flour you may see nothing. go crazy with it.
i've only had luck looking for them. the food and flour trick have never worked for me.
good luck, they usually hide better than we can seek.

I think flour is combustible if a lot of it gets airborne, like while spreading it around the room, and can cause a huge explosion if there's a spark. I'd try setting up a heat source like a heating pad somewhere to attract the snake.
Don't try this at home...

If you are still looking in your room and have not found him, start looking right now in the other areas of the house, he could have squeezed under the door. Look in warm dark places.

Well if I dont find my snake soon then I will be going to one of my local pet stores and pick up a baby ball python, hes about 14" and hes $59.99. Is that a good deal? Also when I go what should I look for in the snake that would make me not want him?

No doubt the Snake could have squeezed under the door! Jenna is about 6 inches thick and can easily squeeze under and through places I never would have though that she could have! If you get another snake and then find the other one, do you have a place for both of them so you can quarantine the new one?
Good luck finding it though. I would be sick if I lost Jenna

yea I have another fish tank to house em both, I just dont have two heating pads or extra hides, so if I end up getting them both I'll just go buy another pad/hide.

Pull out your dresser drawers and look behind them. Then look inside the bottom of your box spring mattress. I would not hurry to get another snake keep looking for your other one. Night time in the dark is going to be your best best for surching.

A friend of mine placed tape (sticky side up) along the walls because snakes follow where the walls lead them too. So place tape along some of your walls. The one night, my friend woke up to crickling sounds and found her snake stuck in the tape. Snake was fine after all the tape was off of it. But at least she found it

I didn't read all the replys, so sorry to anyone that I am repeating. Snakes generally don't go too far from where they escaped. They will find a secure little spot and stay there for a while. It would suprise me if he left the room. Just seal the door and keep looking. The general rule, though, is that you never find them when you're looking for them...it's as soon as you're not paying attention that they appear. Good luck.
