feeding my snakes is the only thing about my snakes i dont like to do. i would rather clean cages. not because i feel bad for doing it. it is because the strike makes me jump every time. i am not one of those people who think it is cool to see it.

I take pictures of mine eating and I'm proud of them when they eat (every time, not sure why...) but its just part of keeping them to me.

i am happy when mine eat too. i just hate everything associated with snakes and eating. so many people feed live for the cool factor etc...and many people even get snakes just so they can see it kill a rat, mouse, rabbit etc...

i hate feeding day (today) cuz you never know if someone is going to act up (refuse)...even though I only have 1 picky eater.

Feeding day has no "yuck factor" for me, but it is by no means the reason I keep snakes.
I find the differentness of their metabolism fascinating. Imagine a human baby that was fed one meal a week for the first year of it's life (even if it could swallow a meal the same diameter of it's torso). When you consider a newborn boa's size at birth and on it's 1st birthday, and then consider it's feeding habits, it is nothing less than astonishing.

I love feeding day.Not because of the "kill" (my animals eat f/t).I love it because there is alot of interaction between my reptiles and myself and I know they are feeling fine and all is normal..It's when they won't eat that i really start worrying.I still love watching them eat even after years of having them.

The thought has never crossed my mind. If you intend to keep an animal that is strictly carnivorous, it's part of life. It neither fascinates nor disturbs me. It's part of providing captive care. It is an exciting time though, wondering whether I can get the cage door open and the tongs in before I have an emerald half way out the cage. LOL My adults and subs only eat every 14-21 days though.
