My day, Bad Herp Store (Please Read)
Hey everyone and welcome to my Friday the 13th. As most of you all know, my dad left for Iraq this morning at 12:55 pm. He already called and has arrived safe. Anyway, on the way home me and my cousin went to a Exotic pet store in STL Missouri, (Name not listed for certain reasons)
Let me start off by saying this was the WORST store I have EVER Seen in my entire life. Let me describe it to you. You walk into the store and Instantly noticed it was CRAMMED. The smell was awful, there were aquariums, terreriums and tanks EVERYWHERE. All the water was NASTY, everything look awful. Now, we cant judge a book by its cover so lets look at the condition of the snakes.
There were 47 bull snakes in a DELI CUP! And thats all i could count. There was deli cups filled with atleast 20-40 snakes in each, and they had no water or nothing. They had full grown red-tail boas. They were in complete AWFUL condition, they had bad sheds all over, one looked to have RI and they had no water, and the cage was nothing but plastic. They had Venemous snakes housed behind glass, and they were looking awful. They had a Eyelash viper, timber rattlesnake, and a copperhead. I was already outraged and walked up to the counter and asked why on the world was the snakes condition like this. There excuse was that they were getting ready for the reptile show. I still think this is NO Excuse for the Really bad condition these snakes were in. I walked a little further into the store and what did i see on my left, a large tank with about 35-40 bearded dragons MIXED WITH IGGYS! I walk a little further and see a SMALL rubbermaid container with A LARGE BURM CRAMPED inside, and I dont know if it was alive
I asked her if she had any corn snakes and she pulled a deli cup with about 15 in them and said there 20.00 each, and they were born yesterday. There condition was awful and I wanted to buy them all just to get them out of this awful store. Unfortionatly, i was only able to get one. I picked the one that looked like it was ready to leave. I got the snake and she didnt make any concern to tell me any info. By that time i was outraged and ready to leave. I did get a picture of my snake when I got home, and it will have a great life here with me.
Thanks for reading this, and if anyone can post any info on how to report this store please let me know.

I am sorry to hear how bad this pet store keeps its reptiles. I know you just wanted to help the corn snake but you should have just left it there. Pet stores like this will never change the way they do business. If everyone felt the way you did when they went in the store they would sell all there reptiles and then they would just buy more reptiles and more would more than likely die. The best way to deal with stores like this is to tell everyone you know not to shop there and hopefully they will go out of business someday. Also you can call the better business bureau and animal cruelty police and see if they can fine them or shut them down.
P.S.
Tell your dad thank you for what he is doing. I really respect what all the armed forces do for all Americans. May God keep him safe for you and your family.
Take care

Well, after second thoughts I do agree i shouldnt have got the snake there. Although I was in the look for them, i realize buying from them is just supporting there store. This cornsnake is doing great so far, its a ghost morph.
Ill be making some phone calls tomorrow, does it sound like I have a case?

Ryan,
IF you can go back to the store and get some pics, the BBB and animal cruelty folks are more likely to listen. Either way, it's obvious from your description that there is a case to be made against the store. THANKS for relating the story. I hope everything works out with your new corn, too.

Well some good did come out of this,
1) I got a new corn snake, that in 2 years will be a beautiful breeder.
2) A guy was in there who was being told all the wrong stuff by the lady, i pulled him aside and corrected what she said, wrote down RTB.net and told him to check us out because everyone is great here. He had a 5 1/2 ft RTB in his truck he just got and was being told to feed live.
