List server? I want more!

Hi
I really enjoy Redtailboa forums grovel grovel
But, Im finding it a bit difficult to find new messages as they appear on the site.
The useful things that help navigate round are the "5 recent topics", and date of last posting on the forums themselves. I dont want to miss out tho.
I assume the admin team are using a list server - how else do you keep up with all the new messages.
Is there a list server for the remainder of us? Or is there a programmatical way of downloading all the messages

We do it just like you do, starting with the top five, then hitting the most popular forums and going from there.
Which is why we sometimes get a little antsy about the same people posting doubles, triples etc, and in the wrong forums,..... [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

yeh I do think that is a little off.. At the two boards I Admin for they both have seperate pages with the top 20 recenty post.. its a good idea but the board's outline itself may not allow it..

You can "Suscribe" to forums so that they show up in your inbox after each new post. I know that TrinityWolf does this. I just do like ed said and moderate as I see them.

Just like Eddie says.. I also go to top 5 and then start hitting each of the forums looking through recent posts [ ya can see which ones have been added to or started since the last time you were in them by the lil folder and it's coloring that appear to the left of each thread once inside the forum itself btw]. Us admins can get 'stuck" in one forum or another.. that's why we have mods on each forum that can also help us with admin things in that particular forum too. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img] [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] Us admins will also pass ims or pms through chat too at times if there is a post/thread that needs more attention than others so it can be more closely monitored by admins OR/AND we also will point other admins to a particular post/thread and ask them what they think of it and if anything should be done within/with the thread also.
Sometimes we will also receive pm's from members here on rtb asking us to take a look at a particular thread for various reasons too.

LOL.. Yup such just propmotes even more work for us to do here...UGH.
In regards to the server for the news. Just shoot Natas an email off at natas@redtailboa.net He's ususally good about responding to emails.

I don't even bother with the top 5 .... I have certain times of the day when I wanna check out certain forums...dunno why I do that....I just do. then a few times a day I scroll down looking at time and dates of last posts...and if it is a topic of interest or one I might can help on...I click it. If it is a "why won't my snake poop every day" question and I see that several people have answered it....I usually skip it...so as not to add to the "yah what they said" posts. At no time will I ever look in the Misc amphibian forum...so please don't leave me any personal msgs there [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] or "other arthropods" blah....I think I moderate that one and I've never even been in it that I can remember LOL....anyway....we all have our favorites I think that we pop into more than others but usually just follow the latest posts by time or date. There are also certain people that love to be controversial on certain subjects and so when their name pops up on a recent post...an army of rtbers will all jump into a posting frenzy.

With the 'controversial' subjects, how do you decide
if it gets pulled or not .Is it determined by the reaction of
the other members to it?? Or on whether one or more of the
admin are offended by it.?? Is it voted on ??Does the final decision
rest with 'the almighty one' (Natas)??
