What Species Of Snake?

Alright Folks................Here we go.

I currently have a Ball Python, and a Columbian Red-Tail Boa. I love them both and wouldn't give them up for the world.

But I would like to get another snake. I would like something a little bit different. Both of my snakes you could pick up at your local pet store or Pet Co.

I'm not sure if I am ready to go out and spend MAD cash on a crazy morph yet, but I would like something that stands out from the norm. Something people will look and say WOW that is different from the other two.

I would like to have a species of boa or python. I am not a big fan of the milk snakes or the real small snakes which are similar to them. I like the girth and and the size that the boas and pythons get.

I am currently building a new snake enclosure similar to the one in the picture. The large cage (6x2x2) being for my 8' Red-Tail. One of the smaller cages (3x2x2) for my Ball. Leaving one more small cage (3x2x2) empty to a new resident. So I would like a snake that doesn't get over 5-6 feet.

One more thing to take into consideration. I have a 4 year old daughter who absolutly loves the snakes. I don't let her play with my Red-Tail because I'm not so sure that I trust the snake that much yet. How ever she loves that Ball and plays with it quite often. I know any snakes temperament is decided by how much you handle it, I also know that some snakes can be easier to handle and trust worthy no matter how much you handle them.

With that said, I know with the knowledge and experience that is on this message board. I should be able to come up with something.

Please stop posting "what kind of snake should I get?" threads in the help me forum. This forum is reserved more for emergency medical, feeding issues etc type threads. It's currently being overrun with just talk type threads and this needs to end right now.

I'm new and the thred says,

This is a very important forum for beginners. Just post your reptile related questions here, and somebody that has a little more experience will be able to reply and help you out.

Sooo whats wrong with his question?

Maybe it should be more specific...but it should be somewhat obvious that "help me" means something more distressing than what kind of snake to buy next. "Help me" means...something more along the line of reptile keeping 911. Pick up your phone and dial 911 and ask the operator whether you should have bologna or liverwurst for lunch and take note of the reaction. Same thing. By flooding "Help me" with threads like this, more urgent issues concerning an animal's immediate need for help could fall victim to earlier burial and go unnoticed...so please use "just talk" or some other mundane forum for mundane questions or conversations. And don't take this personal. Everyone does it..I'm just getting tired of moving threads around and finally lashing out.

My thoughts on your question is that it's a personal choice that you must make. Tastes vary and what's ideal for me is not likely ideal for you. All of my favorites have really long teeth and love to use them. Some can kill me, some can't. Some people think some of the snakes I love the most are hideous. I don't particularly like a lot of what most people love the most. For instance, blood pythons could become extinct for all I care. I don't like them. I don't like retics or dark colored boas. I am about as excited about getting a new ball python as I am when I stump my toe. I'm deeply rooted into the minority on most or all of these extreme dislikes but I'm in the majority as far as having varying taste. So...all I can say is read up on whatever catches your eye and maybe ask for the scoop on specific animals that you find appealing? It's easy for people to blurt out a list of easy going, easy to keep "different" snakes but whatever buttons the particular animal hit with them, you may not possess.
