A new "Kind" Rescue... for me at least!
I dont know how legal this is but i will play stupid if i get caught!
My sister called me and told me that when se got home from work she went to the mail box and 3 baby squirrels ran up her leg. She said that she could not leave them so what do you think she did? Yup, called me WHILE she was enroute to my house to tell me that she was bring them to me. They are covered in fleas, and pretty thin. All three are little boys. I gave them baby formula twice since they arrived. Both times they have eaten and then passed out. Any suggestion on how to rid these little guy of fleas would be a GREAT help.I guess that when they are old enough to fend for themselves i will let then go in my back yard. My house backs up to a nature park. Here are some pics

I would try using 5 % Sevin dust on them. Just follow the direction on the back for use with pets. Home Depot and Lowes sell Sevin dust.
Take care

5% Sevin dust is safe to use on dogs and cats so it should work for squirrels.
Take care

Chad: Some helpful info: the baby needs heat #1 VERY IMPORTANT warm water bottle wrapped in a towel, whatever, 98.5-99 is great, not too hot. Need to feed it roughly every 4hrs.
Make sure there is no escape from the box, so they stay warm.
I suggest a licensed rehabber, here is a site to help you locate one should you go that direction. http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm
Here is a fairly helpful site to tell you more about the types of parasites and
other basic info on squirrels. http://www.squirrelworld.com/
You should try pedialyte to rehydrate the squirrel most importantly. If they are dehydrated, feeding them milk is harder on them because they can't digest it due to lack of fluids.
Remove the fleas and maggots by hand with flea combs or tweezers. Petco also sells flea and mite sprays made specifically for small animals such as hamsters.
Once the squirrels are warm and have been properly hydrated, you can feed them Puppy milk replacer, PetAg's Espbilac. No whole milk, raw eggs, or honey as they can cause digestive bacterial infections.
Since the eyes are open, you can offer bird feed, with nuts, fruits, sunflower seeds, apple bits, cheerios, grapes, unsalted nuts, walnuts, acorns, carrot bits, also very important to provide water. Some more helpful info

Voodoo, once again you pull through for me! i am going to contact a rehabber today to get these guys the best possible care. They are just so cute, friendly and cuddley. All they want to do is eat and cuddle up somewere on my body. My wife and kids will be so distraugt to learn that we are not keeping them.
Thanks again Voodoo!

Squirrels are lactose intolerant as are most small animals and cow milk will kill them nearly immediatly. Hopefully you lucked up or wisely chose a soy based formula. I've raised one grey squirrel, a couple of flying squirrels, several chipmunks and a whole litter of opossums on soy based baby formula with zero casualties. So far all the advice given to you is dead on. I've never used kitten formula but I've heard great things about it and know of people who have successfully raised them on it. Your little guy is about ready for real food though. I would go ahead and put some in the cage and continue feeding formula until you see that it's eating on it's own. Sometime just before it goes to whole food, formula won't be enough to satisfy their hunger. You can remedy this with another trip to the baby aisle at your local grocer. Pick up a box of gerber rice cereal flakes and add some to the formula to thicken it. This will require you enlarging the whole in your dropper or oral syringes a bit. Every 4 hour feedings around the clock is absolutely paramount. Don't miss a single feeding. If not kept nourished, they go down hill extremely fast. They burn a tremendous amount of calories. Anyway...good luck. They are illegal to possess in Georgia and a licensed rehabber would be the legally right thing to do but...I can't in any way even start to claim to have always been to the letter of the law myself...

OMG, I don't know if I could uphold the law if something THAT cute would fall into my lap
I have always loved squirrels, ever since I was a kid. Back in Europe we have those big red ones with the tufts in their ears. Always loved feeding them
I would have a very hard time giving these up...I just wanne sccop them up

My father in law and my husband have always found little squirrels that fell out of trees or what not. I had one about 2yrs ago, still a pinky. During that time I didnt have internet. I couldnt get a rehabber to take it, several vets in the area refused it, and I knew enough to keep it off of lactose and keep it warm, but it still didnt make it. I think now, after reading more about them, it was a combination of not feeding it often enough, and the age of the animal when I found it.
Good luck Chad! I'm sure you would do just fine with them, they are a lot of work, but at that age, since they will most likely eat on their own, it shouldnt be too much trouble to keep the feedings up.
When they get larger, the males tend to get more aggressive, the females can end up as permanent members.
While not legal, MANY people rehab these little guys successfully.

i thought about keeping them, but decided that i had not done enough research at the time so i contact a rehabber here in Atlanta ( thanks again Voodoo) and just got back from dropping them off. It going to be a BAD day in the Ramsey house when my kids get home from school today. Yes, it was hard, but maybe next time i will give it a try. Righ now i am building two new cages for new snakes, my plate is kind of full, and the timing was bad. Thanks for all the help yall.

thanks Louise, BUT SELFISH would feel so much better!
I definitely made a very regrettable decision, but most likely the best one! I just hope my kids see it that way?
