Canoe trip in FL

Well I went out for a few hours today and took a canoe trip. The last trip we took was 3 days and 2 night. Saw a few Gators and some nice scenery. So here's a few pics from the short trip.

Here's what looks like to be a 7-8 ft Gator just basking out in the sun.. Its sad I wanted to stop and see if I could get a few more focused pictures and get a little closer but there were three teenagers in the Canoe behind us who got really close and started so splash him with the ores... at this point I wanted them to tip over and see how fun that would be.

This was from 40 ft away and as far as my camera would focus, plus we were moving, so they came out a little blurry..

Think I need to shave...

Here's a baby gator about 2 ft

When we came up on the Gators it sort of made me a little sad thinking about steve...

Great pics! Beautiful scenery! I wish when I went canoeing I got to see gators!! All we get to see here are beer bottles, drunken obnoxious canoers and every now and then a nice snake or two.

LOL yea that was in the dirty pile from Thursday, figured I would were something dirty cause I knew I was just going to ruin something else. I don't think ill be wearing that shirt any longer, got a few nice stains on it while out looking around.
FL is awesome, its not just the nice beaches and bars. I have been canoeing quite a bit in the past few years. The longest trip was 6 days 5 night and was a BLAST! The canoe tipped and lost some of our food, so what did we do... we had a few nice fish dinners! We did see a few more gators less than a few feet from us but all just popped their heads up then went under again, didn't have time to get pictures of them.
There was some trash in the water, but very scarce. I did manage to snag some out of the water to throw away but the next canoe was just going to throw more out.

It's gorgeous.. where did you go? The creek we live on, Myakka River, it's so pretty going up it and I love seeing all the turtles stretched out on almost every single tree in the water.. not to mention the gators of course

We were at Hillsborough River State Park. I have been all over north port through the small streams that wind through there. I also go out to Oscar Scherer state park and Myakka River State Park. Most of the parks I make it out to don't have a who lot of wildlife that's out in the open.. there is a few but most people just run them off. So I travel down to Arcadia and other areas to really get away sometimes.
