be very careful what you say
my daughter had got a one eyed black kitten from a rescue. the thing has been a constant nightmare since day one. it poos at least 6 times a day and it smells horrible. it gets in everything and keeps us up all night. i finally convinced to to get rid of it. i asked around work if anyone wanted it etc...nobody could have hr. so i was sitting there thinking it can go back to the rescue. i was telling my coworkers how horrible the kitten is and then i said 'i should just feed it to my snake' and i laughed. you could tell i was joking. i have only worked there one month and they dont know me to well cause i stick to myself . i really only talk to people if it is work related.
well i went into work tonight and i didn't even set my purse down and one of the female managers came running (yes running) up to me and asked if the kitten was gone. i said 'yes" (we took it back to the rescue) the manager burst into tears!!! i said to her 'you said you couldn't take her so what is the problem?" she says i cannot believe you fed it to a snake! i was like WHAT!!!?? she said everyone from every shift is talking about how i was gonna feed it to my snake. i was sooo mad you cannot even believe. i told her are you nuts? do you people think i am crazy or something? the same manager said she had nightmares about it. so i had to go around tonight and tell all the employees that i did not feed the darn thing to my snake. i guess this is what kind of thing happens when youwork with over 20 women.
truely all they do is run each other down and gossip. they will be running one girl down to the ground and when she shows up for work everyone is like hi honey. it makes me sick.
i got them altogether tonight and politely told them to never ever invovle me in thier gossip talk again. when they are gossiping i always walk away and never listen to it.
thank god the owner stopped in and i told him it was all a lie. he said he really didn't care cause he hates cats!
i also let them know stupid crap like this rumour is how snakes get banned.
i havent been that mad in a very long time. i know the girl i said that to knew i was kidding but it would make for a good rumour and she ran with it.
i am still fuming.

It's ridiculous when a bunch of grown women can't even come up to you and ask if you were just joking to begin with instead of just running around making you look like a crazed cat killer. But if they did that then they'd have to dig through their puny little brains of theirs to think of something else to bash against someone else. I think I would have just told her that I did feed it to my snake and then pretend I video taped it and ask if they'd like to have lunch and watch it together.
Either way I'm sorry you had to deal with something so utterly ridiculous. Especially when you have more important things to worry about than gossip.

Then you could have topped it off with a dead baby joke...well, that may be too much for one sitting...a good pirate joke could help change the mood...

you know, i am probably going to stir up some major stuff for this. but louise, arent you the one who is always distrought any time someone decides they want to "Get rid" of a pet snake? yet you can encourage someone to "get rid" of a cat without any moral issues, of where it goes, weather or not it ends up at a shelter, is euthanized or adopted out to someone who wont properly take care of it, because its "hard to deal with"... if it had IBD and pooed once a week you wouldnt keep it? nurse it back to health? maybe it had intestinal issues, was it ever taken to a vet?
i dont have issues with people "getting rid" of animals, i just dont see how anyone can make a big deal about people "getting rid" of one animal, yet see nothing wrong with "getting rid" of another.
i by no means mean for this to be any sort of personal attack, it just seems like an ironic observation from the many threads ive read on the subject.
Im sorry about the misunderstanding made by your co-workers, i also joke about such things [feeding animals to my snakes] but luckly i hang out with equally sick-minded individuals who get a good laugh out of it
and... for the record, i dont like cats either haha

well the truth of the matter is me and my daughter got in a argument and she moved out. it is not my cat and i make it quite clear i will not care for furry critters. when she left she left the kitten here. she paid 90.00 for the kitten and bought it 95 miles away. i took the time to take it back to the rescue it came from. reason i asked co workers is because my night manager (one of them0 told me cindy and deb are cat lovers.
if it was my pet and my responsibility i would have kept it.

you sign a contract when you get one of these cats. if you cannot keep it it goes back. if i would have found it a new home then the new owner would have had to sign the contract. plus this place makes you fill out a questionaire and calls iof you live in an apartment to make sure it is allowed.

So am I. I've gotten some pretty helpful tips to make sure I have a healthy and happy baby. It's also really nice to be able to share something with other people where both parties really appreciate and love the same thing.

i no way thought of you posting this as a slam. i am glad you caught that and cared enough to ask about it. i also dont blame people who have a snake and decide they no longer want to care for it and find it a good home. i dont like when people get rid of one just to get a new one to replace it. like getting rid of a retic cause it was nippy and a week later getting a burm and then getting rid of that cause it is nippy. that is what bothers me. i dont even know if bothers is the right word..i just dont understand it cause i would never give up my babies to replace them with something new.

so true. in the outside world it is really hard to find others who love or even like snakes. here we can learn new things every day and help others learn new things.

no that makes sense. I kindof feel like if someone cares properly for it for whatever duration of time that it is in their posetion, then all the better, sometimes people need to get overwhelmed for them to realize how much hard work, responseability and committment it is to care for animals.
I come with the cynical/jaded opinion that the vast majority of people are idiots and they just wont get it no matter how much you try to drill it into them, but more power to you for having the patience to try and explain it
