Terrible news And unbelievable... my volunteers didn't believe me this morning when I told them.

It is, indeed, a great loss. He has some fabulous achievments under his belt, and all in the name of reptiles, conservation, and animals in general. He will be sorely missed.

you know that episode where he cried at the loss of one of his crocs?

i was watching that with my mom... i teared up. and i remember her asking "how could he cry over that?".... i got really offended and ponted out how she cried when we put our dog to sleep due to cancer.

later, after watching him more of his shows, i guess she saw a rerun of that episode, because she came to me to apologize. like, a long time after.

he had such passion. i always wanted to meet both him AND terri, when i go to australia. now, i guess i will have to go lay a stuffed snake at his grave. that hurts.

"He was up in the shallow water, probably 1.5m to 2m deep, following a bull ray which was about a metre across the body - probably weighing about 100kg, and it had quite a large spine,'' Mr Cropp told The Australian newspaper.

"It probably felt threatened because Steve was alongside and there was the cameraman ahead.

"It stopped and went into a defensive mode and swung its tail with the spike. Steve unfortunately was in a bad position and copped it."

Been in tears all night watching the tributes over here, you either love or loathe him i guess but i loved him and even more so what he's done for wildlife and he will leave a legacy and some BIG shoes to fill.
