Well, we're riding out the storm and watching the Agassi vs. Baghdatis match on USA Network. TS Ernesto hasn't been that bad. We are blessed! We've had a lot of rain and some wind, but nothing major. The eye came on-shore approx. 55 miles east-southeast of us. There are a few small branches down, but no other damage noticed. I hope everyone else is fairing well.

Agassi just won! YEAH!

Good news and bad news...

Good news: We got to see the end of the match with Agassi; along with the interviews.

Bad news: The power just went out. Thankfully, I'm using my laptop with dial-up, so I didn't lose the connection.
[Just re-read the above statement. Gosh, I'm such a computer geek!]

Well, everyone stay safe. Ernesto is blowing pretty hard here right now... and he's headed north.

He was an exercise in futility here. Mainly due to the desire of our local "news" stations to increase their ratings with round the clock coverage. Ever since hurricane Andrew they seem to want every storm to come our way and be more servere then it actually is, so they can have lots of air time showing pictures and film of damage and people in misery. I'm starting to rethink my idea of the slime level positions occupied under rocks. These news casters are now running neck and neck with personal injury lawyers for the bottom level.

I totaly agree: only here in N Alabama it's tornados. We have one weatherman will go and state his own weather emergencies while he stands outside saying....."look how hard it's raining" LOL

THANKS for the comments guys. We're all safe here. Looks like Ernesto left a lot of rain, some slight flooding and a lot of small branches and leaves everywhere in eastern NC. We're thankful!

We hope and pray everyone north of us will fare as well.

As for the newscaster comments -- I totally agree. My wife and I were laughing at the ignorance of a weatherman standing in torrential rain and gailforce winds... for what purpose? Really, there is NO legitimate reason for it -- except for the "Aaah, ooooh" factor. I'd trust someone who's smart enough to stay out of that kind of weather better than some moron who goes and stands in it just to tell us how hard the wind is blowing.
