Ferrets and Reptiles can they coexist?
I just recently got a couple ferrets and all my reptiles suddenly hate me..Will they adjust to the new smell eventually? Yes I do wash my hands but lets face it ferrets have a strong smell and since they roam about the house its pretty much everywhere...My Boa acts like she wants to kill me,and doesnt want to come out of her cage and my Bluetongue who is way mellow actually went after my hand twice(OMG this kinda freaked me out, cause she has some seriously strong jaws)....So anyone have problems with your reptiles adjusting to a new pet or smell in the house?

Lots of people here succesfully keep small mammals and reptiles. It's just a matter of being consistent in washing your hands and arms, keeping the mammals in a totally different area of your house so the reptiles aren't constantly smelling dinner and keeping the cage of the ferrets very clean to minimize the odor. I'd also suggest changing clothes before handling the reptiles if you have had the ferret climbing on you...
They can co-habit in the same domicile, just keep them in different rooms/areas of the house.

Nicoles cat hangs out in the snake room all of the time. They smell her and shell even hang across the room when i have them out. They dont even notice her. Nothing notable anyway. It is possible, i think your fear and the new scent is putting your herps on edge. I would put some gloves on and grab hold of them like you normally do. Use the usual precautionaries, clean arms and hand etc...
Good luck!

the previous owners of my burm had a ferret cage right next to its cage, they said it was always starring at the ferret and would strike at it and they thought it was funny! but like everyone said if you do everything right it should be ok
