Superman Returns :::: don't bother
I wanted this review to be so different too.....
I saw it last night and waited for it to get good...when I woke up this morning I realized there was no hope to get a positive review out of myself so forget it.
It was lame.
Maybe it's because I'm more of a batman person--but I do remember seeing the first Superman as a kid and loving it (with Chris Reeves)...
Lois Lane was flat....and ::sniff:: they took two of my favorite actors: Kevin Spacey and Frank Langela and flattened their performance totally. I mean how do you start with a cast like that and end up with a crap movie???
What a letdown.

I like art, music, movies...art that leaves a little or even a lot for interpretation. It insults my intelligence for everything to be completely spelled out at the end sometimes. That's what I like about Donnie Darko. The best example by far of this is and may always be Pulp Fiction. It's also why I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan. They leave tons of room for interpretation in their lyrics. It means that it can all mean different things to different people. We aren't forced to swallow the directors or artist's exact intended message.
