i held it for quite some time.. i had it by the head for a couple mins.. then i slowly moved me hand down it's body.. it didnt even attempt to strike at me.. i was waiting for it.. it did get a little skittish when i walked back into the woods to release it..

Ive always learned with garters to control 2 parts of them.
1.) Their head
2.) Their tail
After they poop and what not, then you can let them crawl around. By then they seem to think you won't hurt them so they calm down

you should buy a snake hook,never know when its going to come in handy,and if your outdoors looking for snakes with out a hook could be trouble

he started rolling right before i put him back where i found him.. i had his head and tail for a while.. and then i loosened up.. and he was fine.. then right before i put him back he started freaking out..

lol...I still say wait until you get musked by a big snake... I got muisked by a 12 foot female burm just about 2-3 weeks ago.

my garter always musks. i would like to find the guy who dropped it off at my work and left it so i could ring his neck. his cage always smells  today i am getting rid of his mulch and he is getting newspaper so i can change his bedding every day. he will only eat worms so his poo is bird poo. i was only gonna keep him till i found him a new home but nobody on the planet wanted a free garter so i am stuck with his stinky butt.
