Monday the 28th, a 6 ft african rock python was roaming the appt of a Sandy resident and apperently got ahold of the owners 4 year old daughters finger and began constricting her arm. When the mom saw this, she then tried to remove the snake and it threw a coil around her arm also.(keeping in mind this is only a 6 ft snake...heh)The two where trapped (handcuffed) together until Sandy Animal Control arrived to remove the snake from them. The normally docile snake attacked for no reason(hmmm....maybe you shouldnt let an african rock roam your house...ESPECIALLY when a child is present)
Anyhow, Sandy City contacted me and I will be taking the snake. When ever they get in large constrictors, they call me. Its been awhile...sheesh, I thought people were getting smarter...heh...And on top of it, a lady contacted me today who has 2 adult retics and after seeing this news report, is terrified of them and... needless to say, I will be picking them up tomorrow. Sheesh...what a week...not to mention the wasatch reptile expo is this weekend and I am a vendor.
Well, talk to ya leter...lol

I'm so glad that instead of Who Knows What happening to these animals, they've got you to help out!
As to the mother of the 4 year old daughter.... do ya think she knew that an African Rock isn't the same as a Labrador?

Darwinism at work...
I just hope the little girl wasn't hurt to bad by the bite and that she won't be scared for the rest of her life.....
Any clue as to whether or not they have any furry pets, like hamsters, gerbils or rats that the girl may have been handling prior to the bite/wrap?
Also, too bad they are in your area....
I am a retic kinda guy!

Good guess Eddie, could be possible the girl was playing with some sort of other animal and got some scent left on her. Nice to hear you taking them into a good home Kolleen.

I'd be questioning their health. -Juggalo

Kolleeen.. Would you be keeping the ARP or looking for a new home for it ? I have some people who have been looking for this ss of snake. Let me know if ya need to find a home for it and I'll pass their info to you then.
NICE going btw.
Yeah I'd have to agree with JUG.. They prolly didn't get much info on those retics prior to obtaining them..or they'd know how they can be lol

Well guys...as far as I heard, they have absolutly no other pets...just the snake. And Lori, The City of Sandy wants me to take the snake perminently, which as the good citizen I am...lol Id have to do if that turns out to be the case. But if not, Ill contact ya for sure. I would definately trust you'd find "Junior"(his name, from the little girl I guess) a good home.
The little girl isnt hurt bad, but with all the attention, prolly scared for life. Too bad some people make it harder then it has to be for us.
Ill keep y'all updated on the situation and share pics of my retics later in the week. They are still holding the afrock...why I dont know... They have him in a tiny cage, but at least its secure. I reached in and touched him, on full guard of course, ans all I got from him was a small hiss...
But here is what ya all have been waiting for, I just found out while typing this...
+++THEY FED HIM OUT SIDE THE CAGE+++

That isn't so bad , as long as a tote or other type feeding box was used, but from the sounds of it, they fed directly on the floor...
Basically scented their floors and everything and everyone that was on the floors...
Add some body heat, throw in some movement and TAGGG!
