Another Snake Adoptee Horror Story..

Ok so this AM at 6:45AM I get a phone call from a guy named Shawn who wanted to adopt the two Red Tail Boas I have.
He was all excited, having had a Burmese python he got from someone who didnt want it anymore..It was 14ft, this was several years ago, and when he moved his brother took it over. Well he had a house and wanted to get into larger constrictors again, even inquired about a Reticulated Python.

So we settled on an agreement, and I even agreed to take half the money this week and half next. He said he was doing some ink work to come up with the money tonight. He asked if we could deliver the cage, and since it was just a 30minute drive I agreed.

So we load up cage, lights, UTH, 10 frozen Jumbos, and two snakes, (2 vehicles) and headed out to Shawn's

Shawn's house: A 2 story wood house, peeling paint, single paned windows, tin foil covering the windows, or sheets, kids toys littering the yard. A BEWARE OF DOG sign in the window, 3 cars in the driveway, and clothes on the line (it rained today), Junk everywhere.
While I am unloading two pillowcases, I notice a couple of undercover cars 2 houses down in a field. A police officer drives past the house REEEEEALLL slooooow, eyeballin me the whole time. Well I am wearing a tank top, and showing my ink, so I know in front of this house with crap all over the place, and 4 cars in the driveway, exactly what he is thinking.

So, the front door is open, so you can see inside. There was a guy laying on the sofa 10ft from the front door, and a woman in camos walked thru to the living room, looked at us at the door, so we knocked a couple of times. She poured a small cup of water and went to the back of the house. The guy was vomiting all over the floor and so messed up. I couldnt understand what he was saying, but I knew it was Shawn from his voice.

I guess in this area, if you are into snakes, you are a druggie...Everyone who has called about these has been into some sort of drugs either past or present.

Needless to say, I still have 2 large Red Tails up for adoption...

Oh and if he calls, he's going to get an earfull...Although I doubt he will call..
He is lucky I didnt report his sorry butt!!

wow, that is amazing.... I guess you just don't really know about some people over the phone sometimes until you get a good look at them...

makes me worry about when I want to breed a couple of my ball pythons in the future and who they will be sold to and where they will end up... even if I would try my best to find them the perfect homes.

The VERY reason I will NEVER breed...In fact the two BPs I adopted out went to families who, at the current time, are not planning on breeding.
I had NUMEROUS calls from people wanting BPs to breed...At least 20 calls for that alone..
I cant believe NO ONE is interested in the red tails..

There are measures you can take for that, but cost and time wise, I dont know how effective it would be...
Tracking them once they are adopted out is really hard as time goes by, people move, they give the snakes away, the snakes escape, die...etc

I would be willing to take them but I don't exactly have the best amount of money at the moment (need it mostly for food, gas, and pet food and other stuff)... and I don't have much space left for more snakes... a lot is taken up right now with all the building material for cages..

but poor BPs get the worst of it all I think... people wanting to breed them all the time...

I dont know how shipping would go, although Im tempted to drive up and visit with your mom and try to convince her to adopt me lol
