Longest you have kept one of your reptiles...
Which reptile has been in your possession the longest? One that you STILL own?
For me, its my two Ball Pythons, had both of them for a little over 5 years, and look forward to keep them for as long as they live ( if I make it that long )

I had a Ball Python rescue that I had for about 5-6 yrs, I just found her a new home!
I plan on keeping my smaller boa (Dawg) for his whole life And who knows what tomorrow brings to my doorstep
EDIT: sorry I just caught the "have now" part... guess Huggy still qualifies since she just left me a couple of days ago...LOL

Yes, she still qualifies Most people I have met (in reptile communities) have only been "into reptiles" for a short while, and usually do not keep any one reptile for all that long. (lots of selling and buying)
So I was curious

I know what you mean...I had my first rescue so long, because I considered keeping her as a pet..I stumbled my way through some housing/heating issues with her, and she handled it like a champ. I feel I still have a long road to perfecting my snakekeeping techniques. But she was always happy & stayed pretty healthy.. I just needed more room for other snakes..and financially I cant afford to have as many as I'd like to have (really, who can?) She was a good adoption snake though, and will make a good household pet. It was a hard decision though to send her on, but I wanted to make sure I can help other animals who need it more.

The snake I have had the longest is Kramer, my male albino burm. My brother brought him home when he was 12 hours out of the egg because he was a runt and the breeder didn't think he would live. Well that will be 14 years ago on July 4th of this year!
He is still kicking along and I think he will be around for another 10 years or so at least. He is a grumpy butthead in his middle age too. He doesn't bite or anything, he just does what he wants and dares anyone to try and stop him. He can figure out how to break out of almost any cage and loves to tear down the snake room whenever he gets a chance.
But he is part of the family and there really isn't much we can do about it except love him.

I have had my male albino burmese python for 11 years. I purchased him March 13th 2005. I was only 17 at the time. So all of you people need to be a little less harsh on the youngins that want to buy a Burm. They are not the only age group that are irresponsible with animals.

I agree, so far its the adults Ive seen who have really neglected their animals Kids are allowed by parents to do the things they do, and taught by parents, so ultimately it is the adult's responsibility if the kid is still under their roof...Just my 2 cents.
Great lookin snake..Is that a recent pic? How big is he now?
