What is the longest anyone here has owned a snake? Not how long have you been doing it? For example: Ive owned Monty for almost 3 years. Anyone taken one from cardle to grave so to speak? Im sure somoen has had a snake for like 10 or more years, but suprisingly I have yet to meet anyone who can say theyve had a longterm pet. As I said, Im sure their oputr ther, just havent spoken up.
Its story time people. Heck if theres a back story lets hear that too.

I'm right there with you. I got my first almost three years ago. Of course the number bumped up to having 8 pretty quick LOL. Ask again in 10-20 years and I can say differently.

I got pretty sick and almost died back in the late 90s...didn't get properly diagnosed for about 4 years...so during that time while I was fairly sure every day was probably going to be my last, I found homes for all pets and stopped taking in rescues of any kind. When I finally got properly diagnosed and found ways to avoid death, I started collecting and taking rescues again in 2001. I still have a burm and a boa from then but the burm (JuliusSqueezer) is off somewhere with Sheri (Herpchick) doing educational shows...but she has since fallen off the face of the earth and it's unclear to me if I will ever see him again. The boa I still have is ClaudiusSqueezer. He's a cool little dude and has fathered a few nice litter of boas (mostly pastel) for me. I took in a huge male ball python back then that died of what I suspect was old age a year or so after I got him. He was over 5 feet and quite girthy. I bought my first emerald tree boa sometime in 2001 too. I still have her. I buy, trade, sell, give away. adopt out rescues....a lot of snakes come and go around here but there are a select few that will die here...hopefully from old age.

I know the one person I know personally who had a snake from hatchling to death from old age had him way before internet was even known about and her husband gets on the computer but she never does now a days. She had him for over 20 years and he was a ball python named Gomez.
I had two snakes for only 4 years before I got pregnant and everybody I knew told me to get rid of them because of the baby and "snakes harbor disease". I lost a ball python due to what I believe was parasites, even after vet care, and gave my boa to a good friend. 8 years later he is living happily in Florida still with the same guy, and I'm starting fresh.
