Think its possible?
I was looking through Omaha city code and this is what I saw
Pet animal: Any domestic dogs, domestic cats, mini-pigs, domestic rabbits, domestic ferrets, domestic rodents, birds except those defined as agricultural animals and specifically including any birds possessed under a license issued by the State of Nebraska and/or the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, non-lethal aquarium fish, non-lethal invertebrates, amphibians, turtles, non-venomous lizards that will not grow to more than five feet in length at maturity, nonvenomous snakes that will not grow to more than eight feet in length at maturity, or such other animals as may be specified and for which a permit shall be issued by the authority after inspection and approval; provided, however, that any animal forbidden to be sold, owned, or possessed by federal or state law is not a pet animal.
The key word is permit. Think I have the possibility to get a permit in a few years so I can get a male burm? I have been looking and I know I am not ready yet. I am thinking of applying for a permit when I feel I am ready both financially and mentally for such a monsterous animal.

Well I have a Burm about 2 feet long. Hes not big yet but he will be getting big. But I just don't see the point in getting a permit. I mean whos gonna find out. I quess I just don't picture a fish and game guy coming into my house uninvited. I have heard of some people that lost thier snakes because they got cought. But I mean how do these people get cought?, do they bring the snake right outside in the open and let everyone see them?

I would suggest for the safety of the animal to go ahead and get a permit if required. The thing is that some people do get caught and it could be any number of ways. I wouldn't risk it and then have my pet being taken away and Lord only knows what will be done with it. Not worth it to me.

Once your Burm passes 10 ft+ the word will get around...you don't have to be stupid about it. Show it to anyone anytime and the word will spread.

Ya, I wouldn't get one without a permit. I know I am not ready at all yet so I am not even going to try and apply for a permit yet

don't get your hopes to hi on getting a permit. I don't live to far away from Omaha, and there city code sucks. People can't have any snakes that will get bigger then 8 feet, that's even baby snakes, such as Peruvians, Sairnams, Guyans, but they can have Columbians that get 10-12+ feet fully grown, that dosen't even count the pyhtons you can't have or sell a burm or retic but you can have a carpet python and we know they get up to 10 feet or better. They may be in the near future re-doing there codes. which is not good for people who know what there doing and can handle big snakes. sorry for any misspelled word.

They just changes them from like 03 from any snake over 6' to any snake over 8'. Good thing I wasn't keeping snakes in 03 then. I am not trying it just yet. I may call the city on Monday and see what kind of inspections it will take and what I will need to prepare for it. Maybe trying my luck with a puruvian or guyana boa may be easier to get a permit than a burm at first. I wonder if there is any sort of age limit. I would think they wouldn't even listen to me just yet. Being only 15 I doubt I have a chance for even a permit for a BCC. Mayeb when I'm 16, and we are in the new house and I have an established collection.

a little off the topic of snakes.
What do they consider non-lethal aquarium fish? I mean really! There are tons of people I know who have salt water aquariums and lion fish. Or are they thinking something else?
