My collection is looking like Lori and Brett\'s in a hurry..

I was talking to my ex-roommate I used to live with in DC. He got himself a corn snake, candy cane morph about a year ago. Well, he confessed to me today that the snake hasn't grown much at all in the past year since I moved out of MD. Apparently, the snake has grown no more than 6 inches in an entire year. He says he has a hard time finding live pinkies in the area. Honestly, I think he's too lazy to go get some, because he knows exactly where I got my feeders last year when I lived down there. I suggested ordering frozen rodents, and he said his roommates do not want him to have any frozen rodents in the freezer, so that's out of the question. He also mentioned that he's sick of hearing his friends joking about releasing this corn snake out in the woods by his apartment.

He promised that the snake had some good weight on him, and would still be there when I go by his place in MD on the way down to NC in 2 weeks. He then proceeded to charge me $50 to get this snake with the cage. Personally, I think that is BS, but I know how that guy lives and how he fails to take care of himself, much less his pets. So, I'm gonna see this snake, and I'm honestly willing to fork over the money just to get it out of that place and into a better home. I'm willing to do this because don't want to hear about this snake starving to death because of this guy's incompetence to do anything but b**ch. Who knows, with that $50, maybe he'll finally go buy himself some soap and a toothbrush for a change. Not to project blame on someone else, but this guy is the main reason we lost our dogs last year and I almost got in trouble for it. I'm doing a lot of long driving this week to NYC, PA, and OH, and I don't really want to head down to MD until I pass through on the way to NC. So, it seems my only choice would be to wait until I head down there. He did say the snake was in good health, and he isn't one to lie, so hopefully the snake will be okay for 2 more weeks.

unfortunetly, I've found that a lot of people that aren't avid herpers can't tell whether or not a snake is sick/underwieght. The Dums I just got came from a reptile store owner (which I used to respect) out of her own personal collection. she sold them to me as perfect health, and I honestly think that she belived there was nothing wrong with them. as it turns out they were severly dehydrated, female underweight, both snakes RI, and housed together for over a year in a 3ft neodesia (they're both adults) with no hide or temp gradient. ok, I'm done ranting!
