Valentines Day Dinner menu
Well since I have company coming over and I am about to start cooking I thought I would share what I am cooking and how to make it.
This will start out with a nice Insalata di arance or orange salad which is quite simple to make. You need 4 blood oranges, 1 onion, 1 tablespoon chopped parsley; 2 tablespoons pitted black olives, 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. Wash and peel oranges, remove white pit and leave whole. Cut into 1 cm thick slices. For the sauce, peel onion, dice with olives. Add oil, salt and pepper and add orange slices. Leave to rest at least 10 minutes.
First course will be Pasta col pesto alla trapanese or Pasta with pesto sauce in Trapani style. You will need 400 grams pasta, short, 6 ripe tomatoes , peeled and seeded, 1 clove garlic, 40 grams peeled almonds, 40 grams bread crumbs, olive oil, salt, pepper and basil. Place almonds in boiling water and peel. Roast in oven and cut into slithers. Place tomatoes in mortar and add salt, basil, pepper and clove of garlic and crush all ingredients. Place breadcrumbs in pan and roast. Cook pasta in salted boiling water, drain add pesto of tomatoes and almonds. Sprinkle breadcrumbs and serve hot.
Second course will be Braciole alla siciliana or Cutlets in Silcilian style. You will need 300 grams veal, mozzarella, prosciutto, soft bread crumbs, milk, grated cheese, 1 egg, parsley, lard and salt. Cut meat into 8cm cubes, rub salt, Dice mozzarella, prosciutto, bread crumbs which have been soaked in milk and squeezed, grated cheese, egg and parsley. Place this filling inside each pieces of cubed meat. Place each pieces of cubed meat on skewer with bread in-between.
Place on grill and cook for a few minutes.
All of this will be served with a nice 1988 Chianti Rufina Riserva

Too bad you don't live closer, there will be plenty left because those two chicks eat like birds.

Why not. All I will hear the rest of the night is how crappy guys are. Might as well take some shots at them if given a chance. Just that 5'6" 115 pounds and 5'4" 105 pounds doesn't constitute as fat. Guess I will just poke fun of the saline content one of them has.

Well it went off without a hitch except I forgot Tina hates red wine so I had to open a white chard up. And they even offered to clean up before leaving which I wouldn't allow. It is nice to have friends like that on days like today.
