Mine are on a much smaller scale, but still important to me nontheless.
My hero has to be my vet. It is such a weight off my shoulders to have a good, knowlegeable vet who comes through for my reptiles again and again, especially when it's so hard to find a good vet.
My second hero is James Hatfield III for writing such a comprehensive manuel on green
iguana care and having the years of research to back it up. It has been immensely valuable to me.
Others have written wonderful ground-breaking literature on other species, but this one has been the most valuable to me.
My anti-heros are MOST (not all, but most) pet stores that sell reptiles. They may lack in basic husbandry, fail to seek appropriate vet care, fail to sell all the right supplies, and don't always inform customers about what they're buying. The store that I bought Dante from, while mostly good, doesn't sell snake food... neither live nor frozen. I think pet stores usually fall short. I know it's not fair to individual stores, but I have to identify PetsMart and PetCo as being, on a whole, two of the worst offenders.
