Non-herpers get the best pics
During peak seasons, I get dozens of emails a weeks asking what type of snake people saw. Most of the time, they are little Storeria dekayii. But sometimes, they throw me some really cool photos. I can't remember if I have shared these here or not, but here are some of the more interesting ones that people send me.
A pair of Garter Snakes mating under a bush
A Garter Snake holding a toad by the leg trying to drag it down the stairs
An Eastern Hognose Snake in a defensive posture while floating in their swimming pool
What appears to be a natural hybrid of Corn Snake and Black Ratsnake or possibly just a color variation of Corn
A Midland Water Snake trying to eat a Catfish. Judging from my Midland, he can swallow that without too much trouble.
And finally, an Eastern Kingsnake eating a Canebrake Rattlesnake.

ugh, the hognose in the pool. I love snakes but I could do without that. LOL. The garters were just precious. Kind of feel sorry for them. I take pictures of the anoles around here mating but never snakes. Course around here it would be coppers.

Hah... I think I saw those pictures on your site, BWSmith. If it wasn't yours then it was someone else's on here... in any case I remember laughing at that garter with the toad... I'm not sure what he's going to do because they don't constrict their prey and that toad is way too big for him to be eating.

It must have been on my site since they were emailed to me by the people that took the photos.

LoL! I love the hognose! They're too funny. I came across one of those eastern's a couple summers ago, it was so funny the way he puffed and hissed and flattened his head out like a cobra but he never played dead or bit. Cute lil' critters.
I love the pics of the other snakes too, that's awesome.
