New Snake soon to be mine....
It's been a while since I've been able to say that....
I was perusing the local news stations website and they have free classifieds that I've heard a lot about so I figured I'd check them out. I went to the pets section then on to the fish/reptiles section expecting lots of fish and very few reptiles. To my surprise there were lots of snakes for sale, all by the same guy. He had been buying/selling/breeding for several years and now decided he was going to sell off his collection and only keep a few as pets and stop breeding/buying/selling. Well lucky for me he had a Suri BCC for $235. I asked my wife what she thought and basically got turned down since we're just in an apartment and all ready have 2 snakes. So I had all ready emailed the guy for pics, which he couldn't send more of since his camera was messed up. I let him know I was interested but wouldn't be able to purchase. Then about 2 weeks later he emailed me to let me know it was still available, but for $200 now. Well I talked some more with the wife and we decided to get it and then put my other boa up for sale. So I convinced the guy to sell it to me along with it's cage for $200.
If I weren't so busy today I'd get it today, but by the time I'm done with school, exams and work it will be almost midnight. So...tomorrow or Wednesday when things slow down I'll be going to pick it up. I'm pretty stoked because it's gorgeous. I forgot to mention I did go see it in person. He has a great setup there and still lots of snakes left.
I'll post pics once I get her...

Wow, what a deal. I have to beg for mine and hubby says two is one too many. He loves them though but he's the levelheaded one. Except when it comes to golf. Maybe I can start making deals, more clubs for more snakes.

Yeah, you have to cop a bargain with him! My wife is definitely the one to be in control of our finances, she's much better at separating wants from needs!

Well I guess a 300.00 driver is a need and a new family pet is only a want. The bad thing is that I need to rely on him if I want nice homes built for them.

Sounds like our house... someone has to be responsible, after all.
I can't wait to see pictures of the new snake! She's letting you bring him home before you sell your bci?

That's great that you are getting a new one. Compromise is always nice. It took me forever to convince my hubby to get let me get a snake. He wanted a bird , but I had to say no since we own two bird dogs.
I ended up getting a snake from a g/f of mine who didn't have time for him. He's a BCI, 2 yrs old and only 2.5 ft long. I'm still waiting for him to have a complete shed, poor guy. Hubby, Tim, is actually deathly afraid of snakes. However, like two days ago it was warm enough here for Hef (the snake--he's got a playboy bunny on his back) to go outside for a bit. Tim actually touched him. I think he's hooked now.
Anyway, good luck with your new snake!!!

Yeah, has to be, can't let that snake sit on the market any longer at that price. Someone else is bound to snatch it up. That does mean I need to hurry and get the other sold though....

Lol my fiancee is in charge of the finances of our household, hes the level headed one in every case except computers, so we worked out a kind of compromise. If he buys something for his computer then I get to spend an equal amount on something that I want. However if its a live animal, then we kinda have to sit down and discuss it first :P This is how I managed to get my RTB after he had been saying no for ever. Got a new lap top and I finally got my RTB.
Good luck with you new snake!!
