The Goblet of Fire
The movie ROCKED.
I'm a huge HP fan and the kids and I absolutely thought this was the best one yet....this seems to be the only series were one outdoes the previous one each time...anyone else see it?

I thought it was pretty good. It was the first one I've seen after I read the book (read the whole series after I saw Prisoner of Azkaban). My only qualm is it didn't really convey the sense that a whole schoolyear was passing. Seemed like only a couple of weeks. Eh well.

I can't wait to see it!! I'm always afraid that it won't be the same as the book though. From what I've heard they did a pretty good job.

We went to see it last week, and loved it. Things were left out and changed a bit, but the story itself was very intact and, most importantly, the emotions behind the book were conveyed well in the movie. The scene towards the end did not disappoint... it happened just as I'd envisioned it.
This is my new favorite movie in the series.

I loved it, although I haven't read the books other than 1 & 2. My wife was a bit disappointed with a few things from the book that were left out, but I imagine thats the case with most who have read it and it would be impossible to put it all in. I did miss seeing him at his Aunt and Uncles at the start though....

I noticed it became more mature as the cast aged---kinda like Buffy did..I and the kids enjoyed it though

Okay, here's a question, though, I have a five year old who really, really wants to see it (he's seen the other three and loved them). Is it going to be too much for him?
Nicole, one of your girls is that age, right?

yeah they are 5 and 7...but my children watch alot of horror and nothing affects them.
Then again we all went with another family with 2 girls 6 and 10 and they didn't flinch either....it all depends on what they are used to and how they usually react to some chills--someone dies and it's sad---some special affects were a little racey but---like I said there is very little my kids haven't seen as far as horror goes.

Taken out of context, that could be a startling commentary!.. of course since it is you we know not to worry..
.
I confess that I am not motivated to see this latest edition.. I am not a Potter fan and find little to recommend the whole series and do not undrstand the hysteria that accompanies any new edition or film.. the books are (to me) pedantic and unreadable!
.
I am an avid reader! and I enjoy many classic and contemporary series and works. But (to me) the whole Potter thing is.. empty. Good special effects in the previous films.. and I enjoy some of the characterisations.. but it is all too predictable and rarely offers a surprise.. Perhaps this is more attractive to kids? I don't know.. give them Shellabarger or Sabatini instead.. action rooted in reality, good history, adventure and romance on top!
.
These, of course, are only my (considered) opinions.
.
Be safe!

Gus if I didn't have children of the appropriate age I would probably never have gotten into this but I am here---and am knee deep in Buffy too....
I love to read but I am out of the novel loop so to speak.....between the children and the animals and all the bio reading I have 0 time for my first love---fiction
