Price of a Poop check?
I plan on taking my BCI and the two corns to the vet next weekend, check up on the BCI and initial check on the two babies. My bci let out a really big poop today and i was wondering about how much it costs for them to run a check on the poop for parasites and what not. i know every vet is gonna be different but a general would be nice to know......

Mine is considerably less, about $15 for each fecal as I recall. I can get a check and treatment for less than 45.

Fecal only is $12 for me and was like 26.00 for the check-up. They did them seperately since I didn't have a sample at the time of check-up.
On topic question. How fresh does the poo have to be and what to do with it in the mean time before you get to the vet. I just got lucky on the one that I had done and she had fresh poo that I had hubby just drop off on the way in. The second one I had done wasn't as fresh since Wil always goes sometime in the middle of the night and usually between his paper towels to hide them.

My vet charges 25,00 a poo.
Heidi, if you can't get it to the vet right away (like in the middle of the night) save it in the fridge, in a sealed baggie of course! lol

That is what I ended up doing but still in the back of my mind I'm thinking it could have killed off something bad that wouldn't show up from being refrigerated. LOL. Paranoid mommy. I had a Ball python die on me from naive mistakes before I had wonderul internet friends and though I didn't have a necropsy done I insist it was probably parasites. Better safe then sorry. This is one of them we fed live and realized that was a mistake so started killing them, went on a feeding strike, got mites and was a total nightmare. It was after everything got cleared up that he died a few months later when all was seeming good. Thank goodness for all the information there is available to us now.

Well my vet told me to put it in the fridge, so I can't be passing on bad info can I? They said something about bacteria and other junk continuing to grow on the poop if it's left warm....
