One of these days
Well, this weekend I spent a day volunteering with the Phoenix Herpetological Society with one of their "shows". We had lots of different types of rattlesnakes, boas, gila monsters, a mexican beaded lizard, and a couple of pythons, alligators and crocodiles.
My fun for the day was walking around with Rowdy, a 4 1/2 foot Salvadorian Water Monitor. Then halfway through the day I ended up watching our girl Tuesday the American alligator. She's definately a handful when she wants to go somewhere! And, of course, when the day was done we had to put them all back into their cages, including Donny the 18 foot Tiger Retic Python.
Whew! So one of these days I'll get pics of all these wonderful creatures for you all. Of course anyone living in the Phoenix area has a chance to see them for themselves. But I was so excited by the kids enjoyment of being able to get up close and personal with all these creatures!

That sounds like great fun. I bet the kids loved it. I would have loved to see the looks on their faces.

It was priceless. Especially when they got to touch Tuesday and Rowdy. Most of the parents were pretty cool about it too. The "once in a life-time chance" to actually touch an alligator (approx 4 ft) was a great incentive.
