Home Depot Woes
I went to home depot this morning with my list of supplies for El Cajone's new enclosure, according to instructions provided by JS for his type of cage. Got it all together and went to get the tile board. Got the 1x2s cut down to 4' to go in my car. When I could find someone who knew something and understood what I needed the service was good. So . . . I'm set to get the tile board and need it cut down to fit into my car . . . and I was told they would do this for me last week . . . and they won't do it! Said the board would rip too much for them to cut it and that it was not meant to be cut down. So, how does someone like me, who owns a car and not a truck, get this stuff home? aaaarrrgh!!!!! Now if JS can cut it then I know it can be cut . . . just probably needs a fine blade for it, right? Anyway - a coworker has a rental truck at this time and he said he would pick up what I need and bring it out to our boss's Monday, where the wood shop is that I will be using. So . . . what ever happened to customer service? I can't wait to see what Lowe's is like when they finally get it built and open!

That sucks! I waslucky and had my parent's big van to pick mine up. I've cut it with a table saw and a circular saw, with a regular plywood-cutting blade, and had no trouble with it at all.

You confirmed my belief about how this stuff cuts. Guess I should have found the store manager and complained? Oh well . . . they just lost a regular. I will travel a bit further and pay higher prices at Ace for some things now just cuz their customer service is excellent. *sigh*

Yep, just goes to show you not all supply stores are the same. My local supply store I love to use is Lowe's. (but then I'm sure they're not all the same either)

Re: Home Depot Woes
It sounds like they followed the rules set forth by the lawyers in Atlanta, or by Loss Prevention, and Lowe's likely will listen to their corporate counsel, too. It sucks that service has to suffer as the result of fear of litigation, or worse, of repeat litigation, but count on it to get worse. Everywhere.
