newspaper

im about to switch all my snakes over to newspaper from astroturf, just had one question though. i noticed the other say that some of the ink came off onto my skin, could this effect my snakes in anyway? i think i read somewhere that it wont. thanks for the help!

only use black and white newsaper, no color.

i take it then that if the black and white rubs off on the snake, then its ok, but if the color does, then its not?

I believe that's true. Color has some dye which may not be good for skin or snakes. I know that in emergencies medics often use newspaper to wrap newborn babies because it's actually the cleanest.

Personally I just use the newspaper without giving colour a thought. Thats not to say that I'm right just that I've had no ill effects! PLus I like to look at the page 3 girl

I use newspaper and it works great. I havent had any issues with color or just plain black and white. My boss who used to bread boas told me about this rippled construction packing paper that works great as well. He just gave me a roll of it to try on my boas. here is the link if you are interested

I was told years and years ago some of the red dyes used in newspapers can be toxic. I have since been told that only a very few newspaper companies still use that dye, if at all. I personally only use balck and white pages tho, better safe than sorry. And, yes, the ink does sometimes rub off onto the snakes, I haven't had a problem with it other than the fact that it makes albinos look ugly. lol
