Need to figure out how many people are likely to donate so you can figure out how much to ask from each. I would guess about 50% of acvtive posters.

I hate to be the party pooper... but is everyone going to give for this every two years? Will crush even have enough money from us to do it this one time? I feel for crush, I really do, but our efforts would be much better concentrated finding a new home. My best wishes for you and your family, crush.

Actually I think you're right. I think the math is going to get ugly based on how many people would actually donate. Its a really nice idea but I doubt it will fly.

Best bet is to stay legal, whether by attaining permits or finding homes in another area. Finding them a new home is the cheapest way, especially if your budget is tight.
Unfortunately, since the state knows about them already, they may still fine him even if he does adopt them out, as an example to others, or try to get him for transporting species without the local permits if they are adopted out.
I also say let it be one of lifes lessons... example being that I had a caimen come thru a few years ago, which isn't legal for the area I was in at the time, so I made arrangements to have it transported out of state asap, mainly so I could remain legal. Same with some of the larger burms I have taken in.

I'd still be very interested in donating! Keeping animals in the hands of people that should have them is a good cause. Odds are, he is a more competant keeper than someone that may end up adopting them.

This is true, but there are probably many of us (like crush) who can't really afford donation. If I thought I could handle a burm I'd be up there in a heart-beat to have my own home for at least one of the "children". But it's just me here. Perhaps our time might be better spent trying to help crush find a home, or homes for his burms.

I will stand by my word of donating money to help Crush keep his Burms. In two years time, he can move out of the 'ban' area OR save enough money for the next 2 yrs time to keep them.

anyone remember back when Natas was asking for donations? I think 3-5 people actually donated, I did, but could only give $5 or $10, I don't remember. I'm not trying to be a party pooper, I see everyone's good intentions but just don't think it's completely realistic. (plus, what happens when other people come on here asking for donations and they are not legit? how do you draw the line?)
Has anyone up in his area tried to find homes yet or should we start trying to contact rescues in the area? Any other ideas??

Crush isn't asking for anything except for someone to adopt his Burms.
WE'RE the ones trying to help him keep his pets....he hasn't asked for a dime.

i know he hasnt but maybe if we could help him now he could find a way in the next 2 years to come up with the money to keep his snakes and if not have plenty of time to decide what needs to be done.it just seems like there are so many regular users and that it wouldnt be hard to pitch in to help.i dont want him to be affended by this thread.i have all the good intentions wanting to help him out.

Oh I know, I just meant if trolls see that and we somehow got him $1K then others could try the same tactics without being legitimate and how would we know? I think it's a good idea, I just worry about other people trying to take advantage.

i agree and who cares if anyone starts to ask for money it doesnt mean we have to give it.the more we talk and ask advice the more i feel we all know each other .we are all pulled together by are love for these animals.if something can be done to help him out i want to do it.yes if he adopts them out im sure he will make sure they go to excellent homes, but they are going to be taken from there home.where they are established and well cared for and comfortable.

i would love ot do it, i actually thought about the idea, but we would have to do it every what, 2yrs? i dont think it would be realistic, it was a great idea though. crush, if i had more experiance and was in a better financial situation i would gladly take one from ya. but i just need to stick with my 1 male burm right now. hope ya find good homes for them. worse comes to worse, is there a rescue around you or maybe a zoo? i know its a long shot but its worth a try. you could also make a post about it at albinoburmese.com (sry if its against the rules to reccomend people to other sites, i skimmed through them a couple days ago, didnt see anything about it). let us all know how it goes.

I only have one point. When does it stop? I am all for helping anyone who comes though with their issues but really who what and how much?
It seems every time you have one drive to help one person what happens? you have three more in the shadows that are prolly a bigger issue but didnt get the lime light in just the right time.
Then you have people give and give and give then say, screw it. Now you have the idea that you can get help for your issue but only raise a buck or two in the end, why? b/c everyone is burnt out.
A few years ago a company I worked for decided to have a fund, it was if any employee had hard luck they could draw from it. Sounds good right? wrong. You had to submit in writing your issue, then get up infront of the board to make your case, they dont like you, you can go pack sand. One guy got a thousand dollars b/c his mom had cancer, BUT a girl got denied for having AIDS.
Before you start trying to make a fund for every thing you have to ask yourself, who why how much? and ... when does it stop?
Sorry I am not trying to be a jerk here... just giving another viewpoint.
