does it take for a rat to give birth? i think (also hope) one of my moms rats is pregnant.

our rats have babys on average i would say once a month.give or take a week.

Waaaaay back when I used to breed my own feeders (mice and rats.. it got to be too much time and effort and didn't save enough from just buying frozen) it seemed like it would take FOREVER for the first litter.. then once they have one, they just keep coming. I would say about a month is right. Some mice/rats are not good moms esp with their first litter, they sometimes get canabalistic, if it happens more than once get a new mother and feed off the 'bad mom'. just my $.02
