Using nicotine patches, and the nicotine nasal spray!! (hurts lie -edited- esp as I a whimp. Anyone else given up with words of encouragement welcome. Buck

Corny advice I got once: Every time you want a smoke, tell yourself, "I don't smoke."
You can do it. Just go a few days without it, and it becomes habit that you don't smoke.
You're not a postal worker, right? (If so, in what city?)

quitting is really tough... im in the process of quitting myself but i cant just quit cold turkey or i become super mega _________. <fill it in yourself
ive cut back conciderably though and its working.. im not smoking as much as i have been compared to a year ago, so progress is slow but going.. =)
you can do it buck!! just have lots of chewing gum or hard candy with ya and when you get the urge, just pop one in...the key thing is to keep your mouth busy =x

I quit chewing a yr ago. Well it will be a yr tomorow. Good luck and no matter what don't give in. I used the patch for awhile but jaw breakers and sunflower seeds worked best for me. Again good luck and take it one day at a time. Joe

Smoking is a weird one for me. I do resent being addicted, but then I obviously enjoyed smoking even when I wasn't addicted. I guess I'm a rare case though, as I'm the only person I've ever known of that didn't start until they were 18. I think a situation like yours is probably the only thing that would get me to quit. Developing a health problem in my prime is one thing, knocking a decade or so off my Diaper and Assisted Living Community years is another. Good luck, and enjoy your reclaimed sense of smell and taste. =)

Good luck its only hard for the first week then the rest is cake. I quit 10 years ago cold turkey. I was nasty to everyone for a week. Now I can't stand being around smoke it makes me feel sick.

I am trying to quit myself. It is harder for me to quit this time than last. I get really bad tempered if I don't get my fix and it shows in my work. If you stay really busy then it might work better. I know if I stay really busy and tire myself out I don't think about it. But once you stop you will feel better and food will taste better also as I found out last time I quit. Don't give yourself a chance to keep your hand idle. Remember idles hands get you in trouble...lol

Wow alot more responses than I thought, thanks everyone! I am using the patches, and also I have the nicorett nasal spray, they seem to be working good but the nasal spray hurts and makes me sneeze alot! I'm also chewing gum, and eating pretty much everything including all my finger and even toe nails lmao, gonna have to start on wife soon she has loads of extra long nails in need of chewing, sounds gross but no grosser than smoking I guess!
Thanks everyone again!!
