That is totally SICK. I'm outraged.
And what makes it even worse is that they advertise that they are breeders for the domestic business.
What's up wit dat?
Sick, sick, sick.
(or am I reading it wrong? I couldn't spend more than 30 seconds on that site)

I looked and yes they are breeders of snakes as well.
I sent them a mail asking if they breed for their product, use imports skins, or use deceased pets.
So I am waiting for an answer on that.
So nobody jump all wirey and flood their mail box, just wait and see if I get a reply first.

Umm....well, I wouldn't think they would use live ones.
alright, alright...sorry, just some sarcasm to make light of the matter. I, too, am hoping that there's some "humane" way in which they are obtaining the skins - and not just breeding to perpetuate their sales. I anxiously await a response to eddie's email.

Well. I can't say I'm happy to see this but lets face facts it's done every day. Thats why we have snakeskin boots and purses and hats, alligator meat and alligator products. Most of these are farm raised animals. basicaly born to die for a profit. As unfortunate as that is theres not much we can do about it. Granted theses are animals we all either keep and/or adore. But is no better or worse than cattle. I think we are all guilty of buying Something made of leather. I agree when it's put in your face and yo keep them as a pet yes it's disturbing. I don't see a need to flood them or send the nasty emails. The amount of people that will probably buy them is minimal and he will probably go out of business shortly. The more attention we give them the better chance they have at surviving. My $.02

IT says on the main page of the site
<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font class="pn-sub">Quote:</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT class="pn-sub"><BLOCKQUOTE> Most of the snake skins that we use in creating our crafts come from pre-deceased snakes from private collections that died from natural causes. The rest come from legal hunts. </BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>
Still it says "most" that means some were slaughtered

OK!
Everyone is looking for an answer.
Well, I got one.
Here's a copy paste from the reply on my mail.
Hello,
The snakes we breed are for the wholesale pet trade, we don`t kill any reptile
or mammal for their skin. If you read our site you would have seen that most of
our skins come from private collections whereas the snake died from natural
causes, some come from a couple of zoo`s when they die and others come from
someone who had a pet for many years, it died and they wanted it tanned and
mounted ,but they can`t afford the cost so we barter.
Regards,
Michael
So they do NOT harm any animals.
And they aren't from illegal means either.
So don't keep getting ill and realize they are doing a kind of recycling.

Well, I, for one, am wholeheartedly glad that I was wrong.
Thanks, Eddie!
Now, my other question is: does "wholesale pet trade" mean they supply stores like Petco?
That'd be a whole 'nother can o' worms.

you have made a very good point, and i do eat meat and own leather goods, as well as killing rats on a regular basis -- it is as natural for us to respond the way we do to this as it is for someone elso to be shocked at a kitten skin collar, or puppy skin boots, these are our beloved pets, and while what they are doing is not really wrong, it is to us. puppy skin boots are not really wrong when considering what we do to cows etc but a dog lover would respond the same way we do... you get the idea. it sounds like i disagree with you but i actually think you made a very good point, its just hard to see your freind around a dogs neck, besides i was wrong about them anyway, see my other reply
