this is what part of the bill said. but this is not what they e-mailed sherri.
animal.
"§ 19A‑76. Spaying or neutering.
Every inherently dangerous animal must be spayed or neutered, at the expense of the possessor, by or under the supervision of a veterinarian. This provision does not apply if a veterinarian determines that the spay or neuter procedure would endanger the well‑being of the animal.

Where i live most Cities (not towns and smaller), have a ban on almost all exotic animals. I actually moved out of the city so i could continue my herping, all venomous snakes and lizards are illegal in the entire provence I would imagine. Which i don't like, i love venomous snakes wish i could study them:\ The Boids here are legal.. i don't know what I'd do if they were illegal.... maybe cry??
I find it ridiculous how the goverment in any country feels they need to protect people from things they odviously know nothing about. But of course since they don't know much about it, it must be bad. If its bad they make it illegal....
Fortunitly and unfortunate at the same time, Herpers in my area are very limited. Not many people collect any sort of reptile, which i would imagine helps never having an anti-boid law passed (no one duming their snakes anywhere).

Will Leary's site, REptilicus Reptiles, has a good link and addresses concerning this bill. http://www.reptilicusreptiles.net/htm2/reptileban.htm Hopefully at least some of the language of the bill will get changed.

It's unlikely that this will ever be enforced as far as private collections unless an incident occurs...but it's going to be a pain for petstores and reptile specialty shops simply can't make it without boa sales I don't think....Sheri...move to Atlanta ..but you have to leave the cornsnakes there or at least hide them

The new name for cornsnake is mountain ruby ratsnakes (Elaphe alpinus rougii) Locale unknown. This of course only applies for when DNR or the Dept of Ag comes poking around lol.

if laws like this continue to spread, i doubt that GA will be the lone state excluded.
this may come to be more of an underground hobby.
and i don't know what a cornsnake is, either.

i got the info on all this from will leary at www.reptilicusreptiles.net
there are links to other sites where we nc folk are making a stand.gray rushins allboas.com site is linked through reptilicus and is updated as soon as any info is leaked.
sorry herp chick, but letters like the one you recieved have been sent to all of us.i have been on other forums to let people know of this and that it must be stopped.i have had people from other states send in letters and e-mails to help us out.when it coems time(and it will)i will be glad to return the favors once their state govt officials decide to jump on the bandwagon and ban any pets they own.it's gonna take all of us to prevent this from going national.sitting back and saying"oh well,i don't live there.so why should i care",is gonna hurt us all in the long run.i believe there is talks of a petition at the NC show next weekend.if ya need any more
info on the ban you can visit reptilicus or send me a pm.i'll let ya know what's going on as soon as i find out.
as of now there are rumors that Garwood is going to sit down and talk with some of NC's top breeders and some biologists to discuss how the bill affects us all and maybe come to a compromise that benefits all parties interests.but no one is 100% sure how it is gona go.keep sending letters and visit reptilicus.will leary has e-mail addresses of all general assembly members as well as Garwoods.keep sending in those e-mails and remember to be respectful and to the point.
