Bleys is on a distinguished road
Baby and Boa

When is a good age to introduce our snake to our baby. The snake is a 4 year old Columbian Red Tail Boa and the baby is 4 months old. My husband heard that it's not safe to have the boa near the baby because of the smell of the baby. We want them to get used to each other... And it's not like we're going to leave the snake to wonder all over the baby! Bleys (the snake) like I said is 4 years old... Is very docile, never has struck at us, not even during a shed. You can email me at bleys@raught.net or answer here! Thanx!

I don't think that introducing either is a good idea at this time, for several reasons.

Reptiles carry salmonella, and children can contract it far easier than adults.
In my opinion, you may want to wait until your child is old enough for the responsibility of handling the snake. Say five or six years from now? I think you will find that neither of them will need to be acclimated. If you are not scared of the snake, you child will not be. Children are not born with the innate fear of reptiles or snakes. They learn it by watching their parent’s cues.
Hope this helps.
