my sentiments exactly!
just because we keep exotics doesn't mean they're not benifitial--to humanity or the ecosystem.
what about fluffy next door? she kills and eats mice. so do snakes.
what about fido? he barks and scares away intruders. so would a 6 foot monitor greeting a burglar. (sorry, i know its not a snake but thats just brings the most hilarious mental image to mind!! ) but fluffy and fido are cuty and cuddly. WELL #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& SNAKES ARE CUTE AND CUDDLY TO US!!!

i am glad this post was started... it has made for intresting reading. first off i am a total christian, to some i might be a Jesus Freak. i have given him my all. to those who brought up that God never talks back, he does. when i might be feeling really hurt or something he might bring a verse to mind that has something to do with exactly what i'm goin through. he speaks in other ways also. ok enough preaching i have had the same prob with the "snakes are the devil" thing. my mom hates me wearing snake jewlry and shirts. she tells me it represents something evil. we have been in many fights about this lol. i enjoyed reading some of the comebacks to people like this that people posted. expecially the one about woman being evil... i'll have to spring that on her next time hehe. if anyone wants to continue this dicussion(sp?) feel free to email me at treefrog24@earthlink.net

Women evil, huh? Interesting. I guess it's always possible, but God (or Whomever) gave women a different mentality and a deeper sensitivity than He gave to men. Women are the nuturers (sp) and life givers and yes, we get moody and yes we get hostile. I think it is mostly bescause life has moved so far away from what it was meant to be. Women no longer get to stay by the caveside or close to the huts, caring for and raising the children of all ages, tending to the garens, making rugs, etc while men work on the food gathering weapons and rituals. No longer do we have that wonderful sense of community and well being. I think that's why we have so many unhappy (read depressed women and men, sadly, children, too) feeling that we are living unfullfilling lives. Same with men. They had an outlet for aggressive tendencies, hunting, etc. Now, we are all trying to live 'productive' lives in a way totally foreign to the way God designed. Now the nuturers and the hunters are all trying to survive in cubicles to make almost enough to get by. Whatever happened to the whole community working together to keep the entire unit going?
Anyway, totally off-topic (sort of), but women aren't evil, just incredibly frustated, just like most men.
WHat is actually evil isn't snakes, or women or even mankind itself, but the modern pace and misery in which we now are forced to live. Our lifestyle is evil. Our snakes are just a way of bringing a bit of nature back into our lives which are too full of modern conveinences, fast paced jobs and meaningless existances. Your grandparents and the others like them are the ones caught up in the middle, so to speak. They are closer to what was 'right' than we are now. As life continues to get 'better' and more 'modern' we will lose those deeply ingrained although erronious impressions. In a way, that may be a good thing as people loose their fear of snakes, but in a way it's a terrible thing, because it means more loss of our 'innocence' and spirituality. My computer can mistrued as evil (internet) because of the time spent 'wasted' on it. I could be out doing that veggie garden (which I plan on doing this weekend) instead, I am here wishing for the sense of community we lost when we started living for the almighty dollar instead of for the benefit of our 'tribe.' I come here to rtb becuase that is as close as I can get to a family type community unit where everyone is working for the benefit of all instead of just for themselves.
I hope I made a little sense, it's hard to put into words my opinions, but if you all just get the underlying meaning, than I may have gotten it out correctly.
Snakes are a symbol, a dollar bill is a symbol, cars are symbols. It is just each person's opinions as to just what they symbolise.

First off.I'd like to second what Morti said "a few posts ago" in this thread.. IT'S GREAT TO SEE A THREAD THAT COULD SO EASILY GET ENTWINED INTO A "FLAME" GO ON IN THE MANNER IT HAS HERE. With all the different views out there in relation to this thread and all the respect that has been generated by and through such..just goes to show that it is possible to have "your own views" yet respect others views.

Justme...I think you came across loud and clear and with meaning at the same time..

I'd like to say the ladies ARE evil.... ever try to snatch a few babies from a momma boa?? You can feel my pain.... Ever deal with a female tokay gecko?.....you can feel my pain... ever try to deal with a female glock 9??? ....ok I may be going overboard...

Regardless...females are "fiesty".. Men are in control... but only because they like to look past the fact that females say whats up....and when its going up.... sha-wing

For real when was the last time you were bar hopping, and the line you used "transformed" the "chick" into walking up to you and throwing some b.s. line in your face in hopes of getting you to go home with her??.. granted, it happens to ME all the time OF COURSE...

Anyways.... Again I will relate picking up the chika's to martial arts... EVERYTHING can be related to martial arts... Sometimes the greatest 'defense' is hauling a$$ out of the room... granted you dont whoop anyone into submission....BUT you get away without any of your blood touching the ground....see my point?... SO... the chicka's.. being nice and sweet, can actually be a cobra in disguise (milk snakes and coral snakes come to mind)... Know your battle before you fight it... By the way, what was this post about?
