last divorce hearing
After all the worry with the snake, I forgot to post the *good* thing that happened yesterday! I had yet another prove-up hearing, but this time, we had the documents prepared by the lawyer who was kind enough to help us out for free. Everything went very smoothly, and the lawyer even stopped in before his other case (he was upstairs in juvenile court) and came back when he was done, waited for us to get done with the hearing, and helped us through getting our copies certified and conformed. He's even doing all the paperwork to have my support/maintenance withheld from my ex's paycheck. Definitely doing more than I expected! So, I am once again single, and have taken back my maiden name. It feels so weird to write it again!

Thanks, guys. I went to the bank and the DMV Saturday to inform them of the name change. It's going to take a while to get used to writing a different name! I still have to inform a lot of people, like social security, utilities, etc., but it will be worth all the work!

Congrats! Thought about you while I was off working on my puter. So glad it went so well and that you were lucky to have an attorney helping you out.  He is a rare find these days. I can remember what it was like when I took my name back - lots of calls and changes to make - but it felt so good to be me again. Best of wishes on getting things settled and your life back. |

Now remember you dont have to get married to be happy. Who needs a piece of paper to tell them they are happy. Glad it is working out for you hope all stays well.
