Well, just thought I'd share my eager anticipation of game 4 with the rest of y'all. The Wings have a chance to take a commanding three games to one lead in the finals tonight. After Saturday's grueling triple overtime victory (about 70 seconds short of setting the record for longest game ever), here's to hoping this one is short and sweet.
Carolina has a good team, and may be hungry, but they'll just have to find solace in the knowledge that they're second best. This is the year that Lord Stanley's cup is destined to come back home to Hockeytown.
There's just a few minutes until the puck drops, so it's time for me to don my #16 jersey (cool points to anyone who knows the significance of that number [hint- Believe]).

So what if Carolina is not the favorite?? They have done well to get where they are!! I guess we'll have to wait and see what Game 4 brings. Speaking of which....I've gotta go watch the game

I'll give credit where credit is due. The Canes have gotten where they are, not by luck, but by skill & heart. They've been tougher competition than many people have anticipated them to be. Then again, they wouldn't have made it this far if they weren't *that* good. If they were in a series with anyone besides the Wings, I'd say the Canes would more than likely make history this season.
I'll give the Canes one thing, being the younger of the two teams, they have the ability to hit just a bit harder with their checks. They've gotten away with a few cheap shots here & there, but that's the nature of the game

*grumbling* I despise the Detroit Red Wings. I'm behind Carolina all the way in this one.
Does this tell you why I feel this way?

And now the news at 11...
After a 3-0 loss, the Carolina Hurricanes have been downgraded to a tropical depression.
Seriously though, they played well, and Irbe made some good saves. This just happens to be the Wings year to fly again. It was a night of milestones... Hull's 100th career playoff goal and Hasek's sixth playoff shutout this season.
The octopus on the ice was just an omen of things to come Thursday night when the Stanley Cup is hoisted at Joe Louis Arena.

LOL Bry...
Wings/Av's has to be one of the greatest rivalries in the NHL.
I must admit that the first six games of that series kept me on the edge of my seat. Game seven... well, that's another story. I think we set another record there, didn't we? Something like the largest point spread ever in a game seven. I was a bit disappointed when they pulled Roy halfway through the game though. He could have been our mvp that night. Actually, I think Roy either scored or assisted for us for half of the goals in that series, too. He doesn't make many mistakes, but dang, when he makes them...lol

Great game hey Najaboy. I know what 16 stands for. I'm going to spell his name wrong but her it goes, Konsintineoff. I know i'm not close on the spelling but I think that gets the point accross. carer ended in a limo accident after one of thier cup wins a few years ago.

Cool points go to Kasper22. 16 was the number worn by Vladamir Konstantinov. Six days ater the Wings won the Cup in 1997, his career was ended in a limo accident, and he is permenantly brain damaged as a result.
The Wings dedicated the 1998 season to Vladdie, and if I remember correctly, set an all-time points record for the NHL. Their quest for the Cup ended in Washington, where they swept the Cap's. Instead of bringing the Cup to team owner Mike Ilitch, they had Vladdie wheeled out onto the ice, where they placed the Cup in his lap.
Theoretically, that should have been the Wings night to shine. Instead, they made it a tribute to their former teammate. Despite their team having fallen, the Cap's fans were cheering wildly. It was described by some as being a moment that transcended hockey like no other.

Well, having known the better team, I was for the Red Wings. The AVs did put up a good game though.

LOL. What was that game seven score again?
Oh well, Patrick was entitled to an off night or two, or three, or four. I think my two favorite goals/assists by him were when he passed the puck to Yzerman, and then when he tried to kick the puck away as it deflected off the boards, but ended up just putting it into the net.
Better luck next year. Then again, this looks to be the beginning of another Wings dynasty, so the Av's might have to wait a few years for anotheer shot at the Cup.
