I was just wondering how fast will my red tail grow? I have a ball python of about 1 year and it is 2-3+ feet, but I cant realy tell how fast it grew. I just want to know how fast I can expect my red tail to grow.

I got my first red tail March last year. She is now 4 feet+. I got my male in June (or so). He is just short of 4 feet. He is slightly thiner, you can tell easily she will be longer and way thicker than him. They have both been in similar diets and routines/environments. She now eats 1 large + 1 medium rat every 7 days. He eats 1 large same time period.
I think the sheds give you a good sense of growth. Mine shed every 6 to 8 week like clockwork. It is starting to slow down now that they are bigger and not growing (maybe) as fast...

hey kitdog!
growth is dependant of a couple of things. how you keep your snake and how you feed your snake!
if the snake is properly housed and maintained in the proper temp ranges, when fed it will digest quickly and regularly.
also, feeding appropriatly is key. most humans think they know whats best for their animals. they feed items that are too small, and they do that infrequently.
a boa kept nice and warm on a regular feeding schedule will grow quickly!!
there is no way to tell what size a boa will get, because all boas are different. while some may get 4 feet in 1 yr, others will be just shy of 3, or past 5, etc....
keep the snake warm and feed well- it'll grow to its potential

Also, don't overfeed. The boa may grow big real fast, but will not be healthy and will only live but maybe 5 years. So I would not necessarily say 'feed well' (sorry CB) but instead say 'feed appropriately'. Under a year old feed 1 prey item the same size as the snake's largest girth every 7 days. Over a year, you can feed 2 prey items every 14 days.
