Help w/ PETA research paper
Hi you guys. I've been so busy I havn't had time to get on here really. Forever ago there was a really good debate on here about PETA and I can't find it! Someone posted a link that gave the groups main goals, which were pretty extreme. Since it's an INGO I'm doing a research paper discussing thier international influence, and whether they are seen as extremeist because of the nature of the organization or because of the culture they work within. I guess I'm mainly going to compare and contrast the extreme things they do, with the postive outcomes they bring, and the differing responses they get from different cultures. If anyone has any good articles or books they know of I would be SO grateful! Don't get into a debate over it though. It's apparently one of those controversial things that could go on for forever.

Here's a site with a bunch of quotes- http://fins.actwin.com/nanf/month.200004/msg00047.html
Just do a search for "PETA quotes" or "Ingrid Newkirk Quotes" and you'll get a bunch of stuff.

Thanks guys. Hey, did you guys know that GM used to use live animals in their crash tests! I just found that not too long ago. It was one of the first things PETA sucessfully stopped.

Well - I can't help jumping into a PETA conversation and offerring MO. PETA="people for the ethical treatment of animals". That by itself I am 100% in support of and have no use for anyone that intentionally puts an animal in danger or abuses one in any way unless it is the only way to help HUMANS such as the use of Lab animals which IMO should also be carefully watched. My problem is PETA is not just what it says. PETA is a political organization with a hard agenda so far left I can't stand it. If they were only what they said they were I would be glad to me a member. Truth be told they are a trojan horse for the far left and, simply put, they put animals ahead of humans in terms of importance on this planet. Let me illustrate what I mean by saying I would rather see 1 million (you name the species-other than humans)animals destroyed than to see a single innocent human fetus flushed into out sewer system. You cannot find a PETA member that isn't pro-death and to me that is a blatant, embarrasing and sick perspective to have. All one needs to do is picture themselves holding a 2wk old baby and staring at the innocent & beautiful creature God has created. This is what we as a species need to be protecting first and foremost IMO

for the most part i do agree with challenger.. i will support the ETHICAL treatment of animals... which by definition is being in accordance with the accepted principles of right and wrong that govern the conduct of a profession.
I don't think any peta member would put an animal's life ahead of human life. it's un-ETHICAL and it's homicide...yes we do need to protect human life but at the same time we much protect animal life, plant life and other lives. we as human beings are slowly killing our planet with cities and industurial plants...we need to preserve what is left or there will be nothing left for our children and our children's children and so forth.
being for the ethical treatment of animals means that governing the well being of an animal and their safety and fair treatment.. yeah peta gets out of hand sometimes and makes mistakes but hey they're human too. we wouldnt be human if we didn't make mistakes
