just in case any one is interested - he came back with an apology AND A BABY REDTAIL!!! talk about getting my way sad though, i hadto send the redtail back - a wimpy gal like me cant lift a 30lb snake in 5 yrs it was beautiful though, i really wantd to keep it, but all my animals are for life. oh well, stick with the smaller ones - but were making head way, the bf actually held the ball python. big step but i wont tell him that she is such a sweet snake that even my elderly snake phobic neighbor held her (tee hee )
thanks for all the great comments - i love getting my way!

AWSOME! hey, you can handle her when she's full grown! mabye not by yourself, but with some help you could (there should be someone else there with you anyway whenever your handling a big snake). so do you have a ball? just get it? or thinking about getting one? anyway glad to hear you got your way . -Juggalo

> hey, you can handle her when she's full grown!

well, like you said, not by myself, and its not guaranteed there will always be someone around to help me. whats the point in having a snake you cant enjoy? i dont want to have to get rid of her down the line. besides i havnt been in the herp thing that long, i think the big 'uns are out of my league, it would be irrisponsible to have kept it. Hey Wendybird...You made the right decision regarding the RTB. If you are not ready for one of the large constrictors there is nothing wrong with that! A Ball Python is a great choice if you don't think that you are ready for a big snake.

I am gald to see that the B/F thing worked out! Good luck...and let us know about your BP!

I echo Ted's comments exactly. Responsibility and being able to think for the future for the animal's benefit is to be commended.

If you can't handle a RTb maybe you could try a Male Hogg Isle Boa, they usually stay around 6ft 7 at max and im not sure about the weight but..? Either way, if you can't enjoy boas please promise us that you will buy oodles and oodles of other snakes to fill that herp craving you know you have!!! Good luck and have fun.. WOW I am impressed with your morals, judgment and total lack of selfishness regarding pet ownership. It is people like you that I strive to adopt out rehabbed rescues to. What kind of snakes are you considering?

Wendy and boyfriend both rock - him for the nice make-up gift, and her for the caring sense to reject it... wait, that sounds odd... but you know what I mean

You know, the concept of oggles and oggles of snakes in my apartment is rather disturbing My rtb and my roommate's bp should be enough, especially with her cat and my... rabbit... who shall NOT become dinner!

Ahem. Anyway, back on topic:
Congrats on getting back together well, too

Glad to see things work out for ya! And just wanted to say you are a very smart and responsible person! There are so many people that get snakes they can't handle just to make themselves look cool and that is the wrong reason to get any animal!

>>What kind of snakes are you considering?

none at the moment, i am about overwhelmed with what i have - the two snakes, a bp and a jcp are both unofficial rescues, i have always wanted snakes and they just kindof fell in my lap, people who lost interest and didnt know what they were doing, i also breed and train horses and do bird rescue so i have my hands, and my apartment very full. however, if there is something in need of help i will almost never turn it down, i have a couple extra aquariums mats etc and if there is something in the AREA YOU NEED PICKED UP I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP OUT, EVEN IF ONLY TO HELP PLACE IT IN A GOOD HOME, sorry caps. i am glad to know my morals are well received, im sick of people thinking im crazy. all animals deserve a happy life. thanks guys
