We won!!!
For those of you who have been following my grueling divorce/custody ordeal, you'll be pleased to know that it ended today, not with a bang, but a whimper. My ex failed to show up for court, and since it was uncontested, the judge gave me everything I asked for (I know, I know...if you get everything you asked for, you didn't ask for enough) including full legal and physical custody of Kid Mojo (the artist formerly known as Little Mojo). Huge thanks to all of you who kept picking me up, dusting me off, and reminding me how important it was to keep trying.

That's great! I'm hoping mine goes smoothly, but we haven't had our first court date yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that we get a decent judge.

Yeah, Dylan and I leave for Florida this afternoon. I wish we had more time and could visit the locals here in ATL, but I already had to call in "sick" to work to take extra time to withdraw him from school here and get him set up down there. Thank you all for your kind words and support.

Congratulations!!!
Nowadays, the court system seems to be taking into consideration that fathers are just as good at raising the children as the mothers.
Unfortunately, still 97% of all custody cases are awarded to the mother.

Don't know you - but glad to see a father gaining custody - too many mothers that should not be are given the custody. Congrats and Happy New Year!

I'm just glad he was able to pull it off now and not years down the road. My exwife kept my son brainwashed for years and fed him full of lies and did everything she could to keep friction and turmoil. I kept telling her that the war she was fighting was much like the Vietnam war. She was winning all the battles but had no chance to win the war. So...just before his 14th birthday he had had enough and demanded she let him come live her. She aggreed thinking he would hate it here and come running back. So, we filed for custody and the judge was not at all pleased with her argument that she was just bluffing...pulled him out of school there, let me put him in school here and hoped that it was a temp thing and he would be switching back to his old school in a couple of weeks? That made the judge furious that she would play that way. A lot of her true colors came out. What so many parents don't realize is that your relationship with your child extends past the age of legal consent. What she put him through throughout his early childhood has now severely damaged any relationship with him into his adult life. He has no respect for her now. I have to make him return her calls and half of those end up with him hanging up on her. It's just a mess. I wish I had fought for custody back when we got divorced but I was traveling all over the place doing fashion photography and couldn't provide a stable household and she could...she didn't but she could have...that all had to play out with time and still has to be sifted for lies and coverups...She still keeps bugging me to get Rob into therapy because of his "issues". What a crock...she IS the issue and she's the one that needs therapy...bah...
Rob and I were driving somewhere the other day and I popped in some Pink Floyd and when "Mother" kicked in, he looked at me and said..."Oh my God that is soooo Mom"
Here are the lyrics he was talking about for you non-floydians...
Hush now baby, baby, dont you cry.
Mother's gonna make all your nightmares come true.
Mother's gonna put all her fears into you.
Mother's gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She wont let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Mama will keep baby cozy and warm.
Ooooh baby ooooh baby oooooh baby,
Of course mama'll help to build the wall.
Sorry Scott, didn't mean to hijack your thread and I don't think My exwife's issues and Nessas issues are anything alike. In your case there was immediate forseeable danger...mine was slow burning and a buildup of crap that took a really long time to piece together from here. At any rate, I wish you guys all the best and I hope you can at some point work out some way of being civil with Nessa. It's going to require a lot of swallowed pride on her end but it's in her's and especially Dillan's best interest if she can suck it up and be a decent noncustodial parent. He's a great kid. He doesn't need added drama to an already lifetime movie.
