A venomoid is an animal that someone took a knife to and cut off the fangs or something like that, and sewed the mouth shut.Basicly, this is what I know,it is an animal that was once venomous and lost it's venom due to surgery. It is a very cruel thing to do,I will never buy from someone who sells venomoids.

Venomoids either has the fangs removed or the venom glands removed. But if you aren't experienced enough to own a 'hot' hot, then you should not own any venemous snake. Whether it is currently venomous or was at one point venomous.

also, they rarely survive long after the procedure. and it is never a 100% thing that the venom is forever gone. this is a practice that is frowned upon by a large portion of the herp community. if you do a search on this site, you should find several mentions of this.
and welcome to RTB!

Fang removal or sewing the mouth shut does not make a venomoid. A venomoid is created by taking a venomous snake and surgically removing the venom glands, severing/cauterizing the venom ducts, or both. Without getting on my soapbox too much, most of these operations are not performed by veterinarians and few have proper anesthesia, pain meds, and antibiotics. This causes a lot of fatalities and a great deal of pain and suffering from the snake. There have also been cases of the glands growing back and that "harmless" snake is once again deadly. It is sorely frowned upon by many venomous keepers, myself included.
