A friend just gave me an old console stereo. The radio works, turntable works but needs a new needle, but the 8-track doesn't work at all. It is set into the side wall of the console, and it's just about the same size as a car stereo. I'm thinking about trying to replace it with a CD player. Anyone have any idea if this will work, or if it can be done without a lot of trouble? I can't afford it at the moment, so for know I'm just in the planning stages. If I can do it fairly easily, I'll start saving my money for a CD player. Any other suggestions? I thought about turning it into a cage, but now that I've got it it's just too cool to rip apart.
