Largest snakes for 1 person?

Hey everyone,
I was just curious if there was a rule of thumb as to how large a snake can get and is still generally safe to be handled by one person. The largest snake I have now is a ball python but I want to pickup a columbian red tail boa sometime early this year. I know it'll take a few years for something like to be of concern if i buy a neonate but I live alone and while I assume a Burmese is too large for situation I think a redtail would be alright from anything I've ever read or heard. Any guidelines as far as maximum length or species would be a great help, for instance is a BCC better to stay away from or would this be ok based on the average sizes. Thanks a lot.

Wyatt

a rule of thumb for me is a boa constrictor or comparable is enough. this also depends on a person's size, strength, and ability to hold breath ( :P ).

Everywhere I have read, gives the general rule of thumb at 8ft, to include http://www.anapsid.org/handling.html. Anything 8ft and over should never be handled alone. But one should also take into consideration the person's size, strength, etc as Haroldo mentioned.
