With the holidays fast approaching and decorating coming, I wanted to
repost some holiday ig-rules and reptile rules. If you have ferrets,
multiply the danger by 20.
1. Blinking lights can cause seizures in fish and reptiles, please do
not
use them around these creatures.
2. The silver foil icicles look tasty to igs. They are deadly, as they
will
loop the intestines and cause tissue necrosis.
3. Poinsettias, holly, mistletoe--poisonous.
4. evergreens--hard to digest and can cause internal ruptures.
5. spray snow--can cause blockage
6. trees--use common sense. secure properly. Expect them to fall. Unplug
lights when you are not supervising the igs.
7. cedar trees--bad news for allergies and for igs
8. Vacuum under real trees daily to keep the needles off the floor (and
out
of the ig!)
9. toy trains--torture the cats and dogs with them. Igs like to poop on
the
moving parts, so forget about torturing igs with them! You can also use
them
to drive unwanted relatives out of the house due to the smoke and
noise...
10. Decorations in general. Igs will taste everything!
11. fiberglass "snow"--if ingested, will cause internal bleeding
and likely death! This is because it is glass and very sharp
internally
There are many other problems. I decorate. got the tree up. Beowulf
climbed it already. I just watched him the whole time. The tree and
decorations are in the formal dining room and can be closed off. The igs
are
not allowed unsupervised free roam time during the holidays. I close off
the
rooms that are decorated, but everything is just to tempting. Use common
sense. If you would not trust it with a 18 month old human child that
has
the strange ability to climb sheer cliffs, then you cannot trust it with
your ig.
Got ferrets? Nail your tree to the ceiling. You're likely to have no
decorations left anyway, so might as well be weird
Now, for our holiday message:
Greetings Everyone-
The holidays are here, and I would like to wish everyone and safe and
joyous holiday. It doesn't matter if you celebrate Christmas,
Chanukah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice, or just the changing of the
seasons and the New Year. We have all formed this big, extended
family, with a single goal in mind - the health and well being of our
green friends.
We are here because we want to learn and share our experiences, to
seek help, and to offer help to others. It is a wonderful Group, and
I am very proud to be part of it. Many groups simply dissolve into
flames when the "War of Words" takes over. I am very happy that our
family has resisted that, and that we can all share our thoughts
openly. Thank you all for a wonderful year!
This year has been a stressful one, with many changes, including a new
job for Gail (in addition to the shelter and full time teaching). Also,
injuries have plagued the household, and currently, Gail is one handed.
From our house to yours - may your lives be filled with peace and
happiness.
