Steve Irwin on Jay Leno last night
Did anyone see this show last night? I know we aren't big fans of Steve Irwin, due to his handling practices. But, I enjoy watching just for the herps. He had a "family" of amelanistic rattlers, probably diamondbacks? Anyway, I wonder if he heard enough complaints about his carelessness when handling hots, becuase he was actually using snake hooks for once. My only complaint would be that he took out ALL 4 rattlers at once, two adults and two babies. That's a whole 'nother kind of no-no right there, I would think. I mean, he was literally running in circles around them to keep one from going in the audience and keeping the others from getting to Jay and Tim Allen. Distraction with hots is never a good thing. It's one thing when you're dealing with numerous hots together, such as finding several under a piece of tin, or picking out certain snakes to rescue at a rattler roundup. But don't intentionally endanger yourself and others by bringing them all out at once. Even with the hooks, he also used his hands quite a bit. But at least he was using hooks. Something is always better than nothing.

I saw that too... I had to laugh at Jay and Tim teasing Steve Iriwn hopping around on one foot trying to get the rattlers to coil. That was pretty funny... but that could have just been the pain killers I'm on  I wasn't suprised that he took them all out at once... that just strikes (no pun intended) me as his style *shock value*. One of the camera men got pretty close to the female rattler when she snuck off and almost made it under the desk. He certainly didn't have his head on straight when he got right down by her, but Steve didn't even realize she was sneaking off.
They were certainly beautiful... that's for dang sure... and I was pleased that he actually used hooks for a change, as you said. It's always fun to pick apart the *achem* "Experts" lol |

i think it was safe cause no one got hurt and every body should leave him alone he has never been tagged by a hott so hes doing some thing right

how is he doing something wrong when hes never been in tagg by a hott i would say 80 pecent of people dealing with hots have been taged so hes doing some thing right |

A- He uses venomoids. Even a totally brainless idiot wouldn't let a hot taipan crawl up and lick his face nor would they pick one up at midbody by hand while it is being fed...or any other time for that matter.
B- The fact that he is still alive, while amazing, does not condone his practices anymore than drunk drivers who have never crashed should be excused for their actions.
C- I don't have another point to make. I just hate to have an A and B without a C |

I still like Stevo regardless of his unconventional methods. His genuine love and concern for reptiles is really refreshing compared to most programs about them. Steve shows their beauty and encourages conservation. We should all applaud that!! Besides, Steve is cute, hehe.

If he really loved them, he wouldn't have them voided so that he can showboat. His priorities are screwy.
