This year's South Carolina Show was in Greeneville this year. It was actually much smaller than in previous years with suprisingly little venomous. At least very little variety. Way too much WC for my taste, particularly with common species such as Copperheads,
Cottonmouths and Canebrakes. A decent selection of nonvenomous, but mostly just standard stuff.
Of course, the show was only half of the trip. After a few hours at the show, we headed over to Mardi Snipe's house of Coastal Reptiles to look at his collection. Some of his animals were breathtaking to say the least. I ended up getting a Mole King and a baby Yellow Ratsnake from him for my educational programs. After a couple hours, I headed back tot he show and hung around the SHHS table shooting the breeze. Then I headed back to the hotel with some friends and shot some pool until it was time for the annual SHHS Banquet. Thomas Eimermacher (sp) was out keynote speaker. He gave us the same lecture that he recently gave to the AZA on the role of private herpetoculture and particularly venomous herpetoculture. It was hands down one fo the best lectures I have heard. He also talked briefly about his recent National Geographic Channel special.
After the banquet, we all headed over to Mardi Snipe's house for a late night BBQ (I am still full from Saturday night). Basically we all just hung out, had some drinks, told stories, watched the Barefoot Bushman episode that Mardi worked on, had some drinks, told more stories. Basically, just a great time.
The next morning, i picked up my purchases and hung out at the show until it was time to break down the table. Unfortunately, i did not take any pics at the show. I just got this one right before we all left. I am horrible with names, but that is me in the green shirt, mardi Snipes on the left and Thomas Eimermacher on the right of me.
