No you're not a nut, but then again I don't know you from Adam That's a great price for a BRB. We paid nearly $200 for ours.

That is what i would have paid also, but luckily i was tipped off about a breeder 5 min up the road from me. They usually don't advertise you know... so that was there price, naturally I took advantage.
hey, i've done my research and everything, but are there any helpful hints to raising a brb you've stumbled on? I know they are real sensitive and i want to give the best suited home i can. Its my first boa.

I used to be a vendor rep for Lowes and one of my manufacturers was Dremel. I got a lot of cool free stuff working for them. I traded a dremel tool that I got for free for one of my BRBs and the other was a rescue....so basically I got both of mine for free :P

people pay for snakes? :P Out of the 20 or so i have i think i payed for 4 :P most is $40.00 lol Im thinking of getting into blood pythons so im sure that will change.
yeah not a bad price at all for a BRB. The require cooler temps 84-86 degrees hot spot, high humidity 80%, they like to burrow so cypress mulch is a good substrate (but dont feed on it), can be nippy when young, hard to get feeding as a baby, dont buy one thats not an established feeder they are a pain. They do also like to climb on occasion too.
Thats it in a nutshell.

I traded one of my Neonate Dumerils for my BRB
Most I've paid is $1000 (with shipping) for two snakes with genetic defects, lol.
*well, Possibly genetic anyway, striped BCI. a defect none the less*

I wish I could have gotten my babies for that!
I am into the Boa Morphs though so it's common for me to pay $1000.....
I got a break on my DH Sunglow female since the guy was going nuts trying to sell babies fast to pay for a motley het albino, he had to raise 14,500 fast! I saved from 250-400 due to his circumstances......
It's all what your into ....that is all! I've paid $1000 for at least 4 of mine. Someday my piebalds will cost me much more......even hets are costly!
Good luck with your BRB....its true they aren't normally a first snake. I'm sure you'll do fine with all the information you get here though.

I wanted to play with the borneo blood pythons at incredible pets (the place where brad and i hang out and play with all their snakes) but o0o the snake did NOT like us touching it.. he/she all pufferd up n was hissing at us like a mofo..but from what the dude that works there said they hit like mack trucks when they bite...and i believe it...all that power in a short fat, all muscle snake??
and no ur not crazy the most i spent for a snake was $250 for a guyana rtb who's parents are over 10ft. Mommy is 12'8 and dad is a lil over 10' weeeeeee!! I can't wait til Ana gets as big as her mommy..hehe

The most we spent for a single snake was just over 1k.
lethargiic, Borneos are GREAT! If you get a young one then you won't have any problems. The pair we have are extremely calm and handleable albeit ungainly! LOL

Ldy.......that's what I was told too but didn't work out for me. My pair is gorgeous but they do not like
being handled. While babies I did and it never changed.....now they are much bigger and mean business ..... I've been told by many it's just their nature so since I'm into the Boa Morphs more anyway I give up.....they should make great breeders though so maybe the next owner will
profit. Their huffing and getting all defensive is common when I'm in their cages....and holding onto them when they want nothing more than to get away and hide is easier said then done at this size!
Laffin......the female is right cranky and very powerful already! I'm glad yours are easier to handle.....maybe you have the right touch! : )

They huff and hiss when I pull them out, they are rather vocal. But they have never offered to bite. *shrug*

I assume this Q was for me. That is my male ATB. He's possibly my fovorite out of all my boas. Probably because he's got my favorite colors.

I paid 2K for a pair of Albino E.taeniura a long time ago.
Talk about a waste of money.
If I would of waited 3 years I could of paid 300 or less each.
